Ride information
2008 Gaps Ride, 290 miles. We’re leaving this up on the site but can no longer recommend it due to severely broken/cracked pavement on the Appalachian Gap (Rt 17). If you do this ride, please be very careful.

2008 Adirondacks Ride, 225 miles. This is the first year’s Adirondacks Ride; the route was changed for 2009 to spend a few more miles in the Adirondacks themselves, but this route is a lot of fun too. We’re keeping it on the website in case anyone wants to give it a try in between the BTB and Americade, or when visiting the area at another time of year.
Putney Ride, 125 miles. If you want an easygoing, shorter ride with a great lunch destination, this one’s for you. This is a self-guided ride; enjoy it at your leisure. We’ll be doing most of this ride for the Friday afternoon trip over to Brattleboro for BBQ.
Mt Equinox Ride, 100 miles. This ride offers a relaxed pace, awesome scenery, and a nice sidetrip to the top of Mt Equinox. Ride may be guided by Benny (aka bennybmn), or may be self-guided; we’re not sure yet. Meet up at 9am Saturday in the Hemmings Motor News parking lot (222 Main Street).
Mohawk Trail Ride, 100 miles. This is another self-guided ride, offering beautiful scenery along the legendary Mohawk Trail in northern Massachusetts.
Covered Bridges Ride, 20 miles. Also self-guided, this is a short out-and-back sightseeing tour of covered bridges and touristy stuff right around Bennington. Great if you have an hour to kill, or tack it onto one of the other rides.
2009 Adirondacks Ride, 270 miles. This was a great ride too, and is staying available to whoever wants it.
Dirty Ride, 170 miles. This is a self-guided ride for the Scrambler and Tiger riders, combining paved and dirt back roads, including part of the Vermont BMW club’s Puppy Dog Trail. Word from a few folks who’ve ridden it is that there are one or two very technical sections, so pure street tires are not the best idea. The route is more complicated than most, so you’re probably best off downloading a GPX file if you have a GPS unit capable of having routes uploaded to it (the GPX file has been compressed in a ZIP archive, so decompress it before attempting to upload it to your GPS receiver).
Southwest Ride, 165 miles. Yet another self-guided ride, this time through the beautiful scenery of southern Vermont. It includes some nice twisty roads too.
Adirondacks Ride, 250 miles. This is a ride through some spectacular scenery in NY’s Adirondacks, including some fantastic twisties. Due to a great deal of police presence in upstate NY, the pace will be casual for the most part, although we’ll pick things up in the twisties. Ride will be guided by Mark (aka markbvt). Meet up at 9am Saturday in the Hemmings Motor News parking lot (222 Main Street). GPX file of the route is available here for GPS users (compressed in .zip format; decompress before attempting to upload to your GPS unit).
Gaps Ride 2011, 300 miles. This has traditionally been our fast-paced sport ride, but we’re not offering a guided version of it this year because road conditions have steadily deteriorated over the past few years and police presence has increased; plus our longtime sport ride leader, Tito, left us and moved out to Idaho. We’re leaving it on the website though for those who want to do it as a self-guided ride.
Central Vermont Ride, 190 miles. This ride offers a tour of central southern Vermont, including some nice twisty roads and a number of very small towns; pace will be moderate. This is a new ride for 2012 and will be guided by Dan. Meet up at 9am Saturday in the Hemmings Motor News parking lot (222 Main Street). GPX file of the route is available here for GPS users (compressed in .zip format; decompress before attempting to upload to your GPS unit).
