Earlier this week went out and started the bike to ride her to work. She idled for about three minutes while I was putting the rest of my gear on and died. I tried to restart her and she did a lot of sputtering and died as soon as I let go of the throttle. Now all she does is spin with no ignition of any kind. Replaced the battery to no avail.

Will be taking her apart and replacing the plugs this weekend and looking for anything obvious, like the fuel line fell off or something along those lines.

If no success she will be at the dealer Tuesday morning. If it takes as long as last time I will either have to walk or ride on the back of Robin's Bonnie.

It does sound like a fuel delivery problem so I have to ask cause I've seen it happen before and I've done it myself. Does the tank have enough gas in it? That stuff can evaporate to a large degree over the Winter. Hey, wait a minute, you guys don't have much of if any Winter. Never mind.

Check AirBox (Breathe?), In-Line Fuel Filter ? [ Tank Vent ? I've heard of them picking up debris ] Fuel shut off Valve ?( Plugged?) Check First. Make sure coil wires are intact and not grounding, Make sure Earth - Frame Ground Tight. also ( Fuses & Connections,kick-stand switch ?) Sounds like fuel delivery problem , though. Providing that your getting engine rotation.
Verify problem = Constant Failure
Isolate problem
Repair problem
Verify repair.

Really I hope you get it fixed I feel your pain mine is in pieces clutch issues in the fall still haunting my wallet I will either get this piece of shit fixed or I will be riding a fuckin Suzuki GSXR by Monday . Peace and Prayers and if I get a Gixxer I will not be at the bash so wish me luck .

75 here today and the clutch isn't right will be buying a GSXR 1000 on Tuesday so you people better be ready for other brand bikes.Cause i ordered it toady 08 1000 with two brothers exhaust extended swingarm and a remap.

Hey LoVel, when you turn on the ignition do you hear that little whinning noise that the fuel pump makes? Also, is the bike fitted with any kind of alarm system which might be cutting out the electricity to the fuel pump? Just some thoughts.

We took it all apart Friday night. Spark plugs were soaked and the number one valve had black crap all over it. Number one spark plug was also very black The others were very clean. Put stock air filter back on and put in iridium plugs.

Bike almost coughed right at initial start and then went into whir with no fire mode. whir whir whir whir. Pulled tank again and put other plugs back in. The iridiums were soaked.

Took it to the dealer Saturday morning. I asked the general manager for a new bike. He was in the process of sending Triumph all of the service records when we left. Talked to the mechanic that originally worked on the bike when the cam chain broke. He said he couldn't believe they had put the cam chain on wrong at the factory but he really thought he had gotten it fixed. That was news to me. He told me the cam chain was rubing aginst something. My memoryfails me as to the exact part.

The mechanic then came out to give it the test start attempt and said I had no engine. The engine light did not come on like it was supposed to when you turn the key. Maybe an ECU?

I told the general manager I needed to know something from him this week because I am off all next week and will be going to see a lawyer about the lemon laws in AL. I have already read up on it and am 99% sure they will have to replace the bike and pay my attorney instead of just replacing the bike.

I posted this stuff on the ratnet and in the write up called my bike a POS because of all the problems I have had. Not one of those dicks over there made a single comment. That place has become very strange in the last few months.

Yes it did do the priming noise when it was turned on.

Paul, sounds to me like it could be an ECU problem.

My Honda XR650L refused to start one morning (of course it was when I was supposed to be meeting some people for a dual-sport ride). It eventually started up after I'd taken a bunch of stuff apart and opened up the battery box; turned out the CDI unit, which lives in the battery box, had developed an intermittent contact somewhere, and if it was less than about 65 degrees the bike wouldn't start. As I was trying various things with the bike apart, the sun shone into the battery box and warmed up the CDI, and eventually the bike started up with a single press of the starter button. A new CDI box solved the problem, and it's been running fine since.

Ignitor boxes on Bonnevilles have been known to fail on rare occasions too.

In all cases, the situation ends up pretty much like yours -- the bike will turn over, it'll get plenty of fuel, but it will never catch and run.

Given all the problems you've had with your bike, yeah, I'd demand a new one too. I hope the dealership comes through for you.
