Speaking of the foot - I forgot that I took this picture of my foot the day after the operation when I was in a lot of pain and went back to the surgeon’s office. That tube is the other end of the lidocain pain pump which I told them wasn’t doing jack so they pulled it out. Although it looks pretty bad I’m doing a lot better 1 week later. I’m walking quite nicely in my walking boot, no more crutches and I don’t need anything stronger than Advil to deal with pain management. I’m hoping that the doctor takes the stitches out Friday. We’ll see.

This is me at 7am going into Greenwich Hospital

This is me coming out around 11:30am the same morning - I think I was still a little groggy! BTW - that is a Pain Pump filled with lidocain in my lap not a Urine Catcher

Here is the foot the day after when I went back to the surgeon’s office. I forgot to mention that the first night while I was wacked out on Dilaudid I walked 20 feet to the bathroom and when I got back to bed my foot hurt so my mind told me that I snapped off the needle that was at the other end of the pain pump. That worked on me all night long. How relieved was I the next morning to find out that the tube just slipped into the foot and there is no needle?

Thx Tito - the stitches are now all out and the Surgeon said the healing was fantastic. He re-took several x-rays to re-check his work after the healing process and we both looked at them and the job is perfect. I now have some kind of new proto-type tape that kind of acts as the old butterfly stitch of the past that is just there for another week and then it kind of begins to fall off. I can shower daily with this setup and all I have to do is pat dry the area down, shove some cotton between the big tore and the next toe, tape those two toes’ together and wrap an ace bandage around it. The cotton between the two toes keeps everything aligned while the final phase of healing takes place. The only downer is he want s me to wear the walking boot for 3 more weeks or so just so I break the new foot in gradually. I tried putting a soft shoe on but the foot is to swelled up for that so I will heed his directions. Anyway, each day it gets stronger and better. I'm scheduled for the right foot on March 26th so if this is the timing I should be right on schedule for the BTB.

Glas it's going well! Take my advice, follow the doc's directions! Do any PT they tell you!! I didn't do enough when I broke my left leg when I was 14, and I still feel a difference in strength 16 years later.
02 BA, lots of goodies...
