In the morning I will go dutifully cast my vote (which I'll have to write in as none of the candidates actually on the ballot deserve my approval), then I'll go to work, then in the evening I will go home, cook myself a nice dinner (heavy in carbs and cholesterol, while they're still legal), watch the election results come in, and drink heavily because no matter who wins, we're royally fucked.
So the only question remaining is, what kind of booze should I get to mark this special occasion, which is likely to be the tipping point of a downward spiral to a socialist nanny state?
My usual special-event poison would be Hendrick's gin, but I'm wondering if this calls for something else.

well I am sure you guys have been waiting for me to chime in....or probably not. I figure what good is it going to do to flame anyone or the site...but here goes. You guys all know me. You know I am a staunch Republican and still am. I am proud to be a Republican and I think we lost a great opportunity to capitalize on the last 8 years. Many major issues which would have got us going in the right direction were put forward and were stomped by the Democrats. Bush like him or hate him, put up 5 bills that would have stopped the sub prime mortgage lending snafu, which in turn would not have led to all the bank failures, including Freddi Mac and Fannie Mae. If this got passed and the market doesnt crash then indeed the market was a place to put your money. Having said that, if that doesnt happen, then, inturn which I still say is a great idea is to privatize Social Security, or at least let me invest it myself, hell anything is better than the 2% it earns now and that 2% is why Social Security is failing. Bush put that up too, and it still is at great idea, but nope the Dems did not want the repubs to have an issue so, they shot that down as well. These are only a couple of examples of great ideas, but politics gets in the way. For the last 4 years, not a day went by when the president was not burnt an ephigy. Thats ok, he;s a big boy, he can take it, but do the dems think that if obama gets into office that the Republicans aren't going to do the same. They are, and rightly so. Payback time. Sorry, getting off track...Marc is right on about the country, if Obama wins that we will be moving closer to socialism and a nanny state. The centrists of this country, of which I am not, I am clearly and proudly a right winger, being tired of the constant smearing and tired of the liberal demogauging and politisizing of every little issue are tired of the current majority and will vote for the opposite party. Thats too bad and very scary. We dont need more socialism, we need less. We dont need more govt regulation we need less, or its not that we need more legislation we need the RIGHT kind of legislation. I just cant vote for someone I know very little about, McCain and Palin have been fully vetted thanks to the liberal media and the liberal press doing all the heavy lifting for the DNC. We know nothing about Obama, and that is a very scary proposition. Vote McCain/Palin 08.......simply the lesser of 2 evils.
Well done is always better than well said.
