OK guys, I'm outta here. I'll post some pics when I get back. Have a safe time while I'm gone. Put some good miles on those bikes for me.

Here is the results of a long summer of scouting, researching the area blown to hell. I called in one moose on the first morning of the hunt. He came in from the wrong direction and never presented the chance of a shot. I then went to my second area that I thought would produce a moose. While entering the woods I found a urine spot that the bulls were using. I followed the freshest tracks into the woods calling as we entered. We were in the woods about 15 minutes before we heard a return call. We worked our way towards the direction of the call. Making sure to respond to the bulls answer with a cow bleat. The bull coming flying out of a swamp to come head to head with us. He stopped 12 yards away with only a couple of trees between him and us. I made some grunts trying to get him to turn broadside to us. He finally turned after what felt like 10 minutes of staring at him. My friend Ryan took the shot and put him down in only 20 yards. When we recovered the moose we measured him. The rack has a 42" spread he dressed out to 900lbs. That makes him 1100-1200lbs live weight.

to see all of the pics then goto, incase some a uneasy about the scenes

Yeah Jimmy the connection was weird. I had full towers showing but couldn't understand you either. There was a storm blowing thru last night so it must have been some electrical interference.

yes the bear is on the list but it takes a back seat to the archery hunt for turkey and deer. I have deer hunt schedule for the second weekend in october. I found a spot that shows good signs of deer and bear activity. Hopefully I get both.

There was substanstial damage to the rib cage so the butcher just removed all of the meat for hamburg. I will bring some to the next BTB Barb-b-que, not sure if it will be 10lbs or not. I will find out next month when I pick up the meat.

Congrats Brett! I'm looking forward to a Moose Burger with you! I knew you wouldn't let us down! Keep us posted about the Deer & Turkey shooting. I got both right out my back door so all I have to do is wait inside my kitchen with my AR and a Liter coke bottle over the barrel to silence it and I'll have venison! Turkey can be shot with my 10/22 and sub-sonics! :D

Damn ! Where was that exactly? Liked the little cabin. Kayak looks a little tricky but beautiful scenery all around, good catch Brett.

That was about 4 1/2 hours north of where I live. It's in the very north western part of the state.

wrong!! Rangley is due west of where I live. This is !80 miles north of Greenville. Which is about 2 hours north of Rangely. But they both are nice stomping grounds.

Looks like deep in Ontario. Brings back memories of my Dad and I Walleye fishing in Canada. We went 1000 mi. up from Ft. Wayne, In..... to the end of the logging roads , after that you would have to fly in.
It was a hell of an experience for a kid of 13. (Me) Still remember it like it was yesterday. Sometimes wish I could live their. You could drink the ice cold water right out of the lake !
I need to go fishin.
Later b.

Steve, you are so right in the fishing idea. The scenery was such that it inspired me to think about Henry David Thereau and Ralph Waldo Emerson, two great poets from the 19th century. I wish I would have read their work with more vigor when I was in school. While I was out on the water fishing I connected with them. I could feel what they felt while here in Maine during the 1800's. I'm going to go out and buy some of their works to re-read.
