Agreed on getting there for Thurs, and yeah Tito you don't want to miss Jimmy and Tina's after hours party. It's sincere beer drinking with heavy doses of laughter! By the time I left on Fri. night one more would have had me driving the porcelan school bus and I don't drive it often. That was some really good times with all and I can' t wait till next year!!

To echo Bill, I'm already looking forward to next year as well. Bennington is a great town, and this year's event will give us nothing short of a great foundation to build upon. Let's keep it there.

I will fall directly in line with the concensous and say Bennington again next year. I too will be up there on Thursday; hell, I might even leave Wed afternoon and get there on Wed night! If I left work in Greenwich at 3pm I could travel straight up RT 22 and be in Bennington by 6:30 - 7pm well before the sun goes down! Anyway, I'm in!

No way we would miss it. I am going to make sure I get to ride up old US11 next year through AL and TN. I did about 15 minutes of it this year just to find a decent place to eat and was sorry I couldn't make it a part of the trip.

but, it's a long, long ride for us, so if anyone wants to come up with a location closer the the Mason-Dixon line, by all means do... but here's the bar you'll have to meet:

> big parking lot or field for the initial ride-in, meet & greet

> bike-friendly motels and camping, ideally within walking distance of food, booze, and in-town events (mighty nice to walk/stagger/crawl home from the bar rather than limp home on the bike)

> great riding territory without a bunch of trucks, Sunday drivers, cops, deer or other bikes (for example Gettysburg PA is a great bike town but it's already jammed with Harleys every weekend)

> (optional) a local Triumph dealer with some spare parts to replace any little boo-boos along the way would be nice

oh... and if you think you've got the perfect place in mind... add this one last little item...

> a group of dedicated volunteers willing to plan and document the rides, make reservations, buy food / drinks / entertainment on their own nickel hoping to be reimbursed, promote the thing, act as cruise director during the event, and then get everybody pumped to do it again...

We spent 11 hours on the road on Sunday to get home... a solid 10 hours in the saddle and I'm looking forward to doing it again. (gotta give Seth some shit about saying he's thinking about putting his bike in a trailer to go from CT to Carlisle)

Of course if we take TonUp's Peg-Dragging 101, we'll be able to do it in half that time.

I think since the New England thing has taken root it should be continued...but Burlington has a serpent in the lake that needs to be dragged onshore and spanked. They have a June food fest.

on the Mason Dixon thing, there's one I could make with a grimace, but would love to attend and at least spit somewhere remote before it all gets packed up and sold at the curb.

central Pa has the Swigart Auto Museum (25 miles E of Altoona on Rt. 22) which is a worthy ride...they have 2 of the original 50 Tuckers, a couple Deusenbergs, 37 Cord ect...the collection is from 1903 chain driven Cadillac/Olds to WWII cars with some one of a kinds...this is a hidden jewel museum. 2 hours is short but doable. free. York and Harley, Gettysburg, Amish, and Revolution sites. could make a run out to the Jersey barrens and taunt the devil...pee on Ben Franklin's grave...you know, make a day of it.

Great Lakes had the Glacial Kame people, that came down French Creek to Pgh and built the mounds circa 2K years ago renamed the Adena, then migrated down to Nashville and up over the hill to become the Cherokee...there's lots of pre-white history laying around. Meadowcroft Rock Shelter near here is dated to possibly 15-19K pre-Clovis.

the primo mc spot is in W.Va. Canaan Valley...major riding roads with Greenbrier secret government bunker, alien SETI listening dish, and hillbilly girls with lipstick and not much else to do...and on south thru the Skyline and Blue Ridge.

maybe start down south in May and do a serial ride ending in Vermont by June where folks can do a couple hundred miles as time permits and peal off as needed...make it a traveling Triumph show...there's where you get the stories. I'd be up for part of that.

...I've been wanting to give bonnebilly a tattoo anyway...and I'd like to see Mark get more out of this site than a seasonal wham bam thank you ma'am...so at any rate the buzz needs to stay humming.
