Staying focused is important and so is staying awake. The last X/C trip I took with two friends had two of us falling asleep on I-80. Sounds weird, I know. But it happens. Especially after lunch and riding something as boring as I-80.

I've been discovering the "joys" of finding my gear after having just moved from Mansfield to Lebanon. Trying to prep for my 1,000 mi. day on my Ducati. So far I've had to go down to North Cove Outfitters to buy a pack towel. Why? Can't find my two pack towels that I"ve had for years. Now I can't find my Progressive flat kit. You know, the one I "always" keep either in the Sprint or the 998. God I long for the days when my life was organized.

Organized? I once knew what that meant. I have stuff I've picked up for this trip all over my house. I have yet to put it all in one room so I can figure out what goes where, and what to jettison. I'm not sweating it, but the clock is ticking.

Among the members of this forum, there is a gold mine of experience. On budget, I'm camping as much as I can, but lawdy lawdy lawdy have I spent a bucket load of money on touring stuff. It's almost embarrassing. I mean, think how many children in developing nations don't have a decent set of hard bags.

1000-mile day. Wow. My hat is off to you just for planning it.

Well, FWIW, the organizing, planning, searching for gear, etc. has me so worn down I'm not sure I have enough energy for the trip. Oh, after I bought that new pack towel I came home and went on a search for the Progressive tire repair kit. Couldn't find it. I did however find not one, but three pack towels! Now I have four of them. How dumb do I feel?
