Ahh, hey you guys. I've got some news you might be interested in. From Jul. 20th thru the 27th is the "Pride" parade in Halifax. Now I couldn't give a rats ass what people do on there own time but I wouldn't want to ride into Halifax with a bunch of guys while the towns being turned into a Rainbow Brite psychodelic nightmare. Then again, maybe they give free beer to anyone in the parade in which case I'd think about bringing a pink helmet along. Oh man, I can see it now. I'm chugging free beer and everythings going fine until some stupid queer tries to sit on my bike. Before that pink helmet makes contact it will be swinging around so fast it'll look like a gay tornado.
The following week is the Natal Festival. Now that looks like a good time.

Yeah, I'll have to ask you about your time as we are expecting to be in Halifax on Aug.2nd and 3rd. My brother has been there for his job a couple of times and says the nightlife is incredible. If you like Irish pubs he reccommends the Old Triangle on Prince ST. Wer'e going to make a bee line for that place as soon as we get in. Nothing crazy, just good people getting completely stewed. Oh, if your going from Yarmouth which way do you think you'll travel? West side up the Bay or the East coast side? Will likely only see one side or the other and am getting conflicting reports on which is better. The people I've talked to were in a car so their likes might be different.

We're actually taking the ferry to Digby. The Cat is too fucking expensive and cuts off too much nice riding. From Digby we're riding southwest to Yarmouth, then continuing up along the Atlantic coast to Halifax and then Cape Breton.

Nice, real nice! I think that's the better route as you get to see it all (and same some coin)but I have some time and logistics problems with my brother coming up from VA. Along with the Cat comes hotel rooms in Portland. The hotels will say one price on the web but then you go to book and they shoot right over 200 a night. We figure on staying in Westbrook as their reasonable and it's only 15 min. to the ferry. For the price that damn ferry better have some complimentory something or other or I'm going to take the ash trays, pens, stationary, mints, cocktail napkins, and whatever else I can find on a 5 and a half hour trip.

Hey, that's more reasonable! And it looks like our audit will be in August this year so I might actually be okay around Independence Day! How cool is that?

So if I got all these replies straight you want to leave on Friday the 4th, ride to the ferry that first day, cross the water, head south to Yarmouth then up the eastern coast, hit some places I want to see and others I can't even pronounce! Some camping and some hotels or cabins.

When would you plan on being back home? If the trip is too long for me I might join you for a week, then head home on my own. It would rock if I brought the big Nikon digital and documented the adventure...then we put our heads together and wrote it up for Rider mag! Lot to think about.

Leave VT July 4th, spend the night in Saint John NB, take the Ferry to Digby on saturday morning and cruise from there. Be back in VT on sunday July 13th.

Pete, Tito beat me to it, but exactly what he said. The longest day will be the first one, 440 miles to St John, NB (that's from Burlington, so obviously less for you). After that it'll mostly be 250-350 miles per day, which ought to be a piece of cake on V-Stroms and Tigers. Email me and I can send you a link to a Google Map I put together of the basic route.

And yeah, we'll be back on Sunday the 13th.

Jason (graphite Daytona 675) may be joining us as well.

I am SO looking forward to this trip!

Mark and Tito -- The Google Map route looks really nice! Reasonable daily distances to allow for tourist crap and photos. The only part I don't understand is that spike that heads north from the St Lawrence Seaway. What's that all about?

I assume you're talking about the one up to Chicoutimi? Tito wanted to do that -- really nice roads and fjords there, apparently. Sounds good to me!
