Glad I could help. It sounds like not everyone taking resevations got the memo! It would suck if they blocked off the rooms for us & then everyone was told it was full & everyone ends up elsewhere.

How strange - on 01/30 I told Emily I was looking for the room block for us which she claimed was all booked, then I asked for any other available & price tier room, and she claimed there were no rooms at all - no how no way. Maybe she was confused?

Reservation methods are beyond my understanding. If they participate with the consolidators, like priceline or hotels.com, I've often wondered if they keep a few rooms open until the last minute? I don't really know.

I recall a time when my wife and I guaranteed a room with a credit card for a late arrival, and when we got there, they told us the rooms were all booked due to stayovers. I strongly believe they blew us off due to an 11 pm arrival time, and sold our room. After a lot of bitchin' & moanin', they gave us a room under repair. It almost got to: me being stoop-it + Irish temper = call the police ugly. The guy behind the desk was fairly begging for a bitch slappin' with his too bad for you attitude.

Good thing it didn't get physical - what if he kicked my ass in front of my wife?
Now there's a life long story I could do without.

I was sound asleep in a hotel once and someone tried to get into my room. Like had a key-card and everything. Good thing I flipped that little latch thing!!

I just booked a room at the Kirkwood. They told me that rooms were in short supply because this is also graduation weekend at Bennington College. They have 3 rooms left for anyone interested. Anyone else booked there?

Yep - quite a few of us are at The Kirkwood. The scent of a late night parking lot party wafts in the air... We might even get "shooshed" if we're lucky. ;-)

Some of us are going to meet in Falls Village, CT on Friday mid or late morn, (or was it early afternoon?) grab a coffee or a meal then ride up to Bennington from there. The meeting place is a small cafe named "Toymakers" owned by a Triumph restorer. You oughta join us if you can. The more the merrier -- any and all are welcome to join us.

Just for clarity, Falls Village is on US route 7, a few miles south of the MA border.

Final details on meeting times and such will likely get posted as we get closer. Unclecharlie ran the times for me, but I can't remember what I had for breakfast, let alone fancy numbers and cipeherin' and such.

I know Falls Village well. Once you set a time, I'll plan on it.

1 more just opened up. After someone reminded me to use the bash as a reference I got the last room at the Paradise and canceled my room at the Kirkside.

Hey guys, can we please restrict discussion in this thread to lodging? It contains useful information for people who want to attend the BTB but aren't regulars on this board, but if we fill it up with ride planning, they'll just get frustrated and leave. There are other threads to discuss the rides up to Bennington and places to stop off.

Thanks.

EDIT: I removed several posts that weren't relevant. And I'm stickying this thread so people can find it easily.

Sorry Mark - I kinda loose track where stuff is and what we're talking about. I'm probably the worst offender of this on the thread. Just delete or move all that shit and we're all good.

Kirkside Full

Postby rbcathlos » Sat Mar 08, 2008 8:27 am

I called the Kirkside 3/7 in the evening and was told that they had no rooms available. Then I tried to make a online reservation this morning. A few hours later I received an email saying that I had the last room.

also the chamber of commerce phone # is 802.447.3311 or 800.229.0252

And this is the Chamber of Commerce website, where you can find even more options:

Camping?

Postby BonnieVT » Sat Mar 15, 2008 1:49 pm

Just found out about this Bash! This will be fun! I'm hoping to save some money though by camping, either officially at a camp ground or as a 6' x 6' square of grass presents itself. Any other cheap bastards out there?

New to the forum; not new to 2 wheels (or one on occasion)....
