Hmm...we sell VStroms and I never would have considered it a dual sport even though it is made to "look" like one. Sort of like Ducati's Multistrada, if you know what I mean.

I agree. My Honda XR650L is a dual-sport bike. It's basically a dirt bike that has lights and doesn't suck on the road. But oddly, Suzuki lists the V-Strom as a dual-sport on their website, along with the DR650, DR-Z400S, etc.

Granted, if you put knobbies on a Strom and adjust the suspension, it's surprisingly capable offroad, but I still wouldn't call it a dual-sport. I agree that "adventure tourer" is a better name for this type of bike.

I call 900cc and over 500 lbs. Adventure

if it came from mud and gets a plate it's Dual Sport
If it came from the road and has knobbies it's Adventure.

KTM 950R Enduro = 408 lbs


Then there are the XR650, KLR650, DR650, DRZ400 all great machines, Oh I almost forgot the BMW650GS.

The Lincoln Gap's a lot of fun on my XR650L though. I bet it would be fun on the V-Strom too. Plus there's a whole warren of nice dirt roads between the Lincoln Gap road and Ripton -- you can ride the Lincoln Gap, then head down some of these dirt roads (some of which you can do 60+ mph on), then hit the twisty part of 125 outside of Ripton. That's a fun loop. We need to do it later in the spring!

My friends and I took out Jeeps in and thru Sandgate up to Rupert a few winters ago. Some real nice dirt roads back there. Some maintained, some not. Might be interesting if any Tiger guys show up to the bash...
