I agree. My Honda XR650L is a dual-sport bike. It's basically a dirt bike that has lights and doesn't suck on the road. But oddly, Suzuki lists the V-Strom as a dual-sport on their website, along with the DR650, DR-Z400S, etc.
Granted, if you put knobbies on a Strom and adjust the suspension, it's surprisingly capable offroad, but I still wouldn't call it a dual-sport. I agree that "adventure tourer" is a better name for this type of bike.
