Yeah, -8 this morning at my house in Burlington. Brr. Guess February had to get in one last jab before it starts warming up.

Won't be long now though. I should be able to break out the Honda and start riding in another three or four weeks.

Poem

Postby TonUp » Sat Mar 01, 2008 9:29 am

It's winter in Vermont
And the gentle breezes blow
Seventy miles an hour
At twenty-five below.

Oh, how I love Vermont
When the snow's up to your buttt
You take a breath of winter
And your nose gets frozen shut.

Yes, the weather here is wonderful
So I guess I'll hang around
I could never leave Vermont
'Cause I'm frozen to the ground

I'm sure that would have brought a tear to your eye if your tear ducts weren't frozen up

Come on spring

Postby TonUp » Sun Mar 02, 2008 6:40 pm

Spent the afternoon cross country skiing with my son and two of his high school friends. I really enjoyed all that fresh powder. Almost as good as a fresh baked donut!

Gorgeous day today. Cold, but very sunny and not too windy. I walked around a bit earlier in the afternoon, then later in the afternoon several friends came over and we sat out in the backyard and had a bbq. It was actually nice and warm in the sun. Very cool to be sitting there grilling food with snow all around -- kept my martini nice and cold. :)

(Another advantage of a bbq in the snow: no bugs!)

It got up to seventy five yesterday and will get close to eighty today. Spent yesterday riding over 150 miles. Ate lunch at the favorite local bikes only hangout 29Dreams. They were so crowded it took 2 hours to get a burger. All of the Harley riders came out of the woodwork for their annual spring ride. Were several hundred bikes there. The wait wasn't a problem since biker watching is such a fun sport.

Of course as I mentioned earlier we usually have to pay for this kind of weather earlier in the year. Possible severe weather tonight. Hopefully it will not be that bad but we will keep an eye out.

Saw the home page 29Dreams [ It's a state of mind ] My kind of place. Camping too ! Snow and Ice are not elusive here, I'm beginning to think this thing [weather] is going to run well into Easter.Long stretch winter this year. 19 degrees 8:00 A.M. Snowmobile owners are finally getting their money's worth this year !
