As it gets closer

Postby Whisperinsmith » Tue Jan 29, 2008 9:53 am

As it gets closer any suggestions on how we can we post "meeting" places and times for those who'd like to ride into Bennington the last few miles together? For example, I'll be coming up from the southeast with four or five (maybe more as time goes by). We could hook up with those coming from up from the south somewhere along the last part of rt. 7 to ride in together. Maybe arrive in Williamstown around noon or so. (They'd love that!) Group up there and head into Bennington. (Or just do as Triumph suggests and "Go your own way".) Just some thoughts I had.

That leads to another question. On what day are most planning on arriving? Is there a way to set up a poll or way of determining that so those who'd like to meet up will have details?

And one other question, probably for Robin; if we ride in as a group, where would the best place be to park initially before we settle in at our final stop? You know, to look over the great bikes! 'Cause Saturday we'll be riding. You mentioned there is a parking lot behind your cafe. I only know the central place where I parked my Tiger once. That seemed pretty big.

My suggestion: a month or so before the Bash, we should post a stickied thread (or several of them) in which we announce meetup/ride-in locations and times. I can put up a link on the main BTB site so people can easily find this information.

In the meantime, meetup locations/times can be agreed upon in regular discussion threads here. I would suggest giving them clear names such as "Massachusetts-area ride in" or whatever.

PS: As far as parking when arriving in Bennington... I agree, we should find a good-sized lot so we can all gather in one place in the late afternoon, before getting cleaned up for dinner/etc.

I plan on leaving early Friday morning and being up there sometime around 3pm - give or take. The actual time will be determined by when Jimmy gets to CT and any others that want to start from the bottom of RT 7. The ride up there from the beginning of RT 7 is approximately 150 miles but UncleCharlie and I are going to try and noodle out a much more scenic route that will kinda parallel RT 7 and get even more remote.. He already has some good ideas that he ran by me. Like mark said, more will be revealed as we get closer to the event.

Hedge I am going to leave Delaware in the wee hours so that I get there in time not to hold anyone up. So as it gets closer I will be talking to you about it. If the wife stays home I might blow out of here thursday and find a hotel close to your crib.

This is what I've been wondering too. I'd love to hit up Robin's cafe, but it just doesn't seem realistic for 100+ bikes potentially. We need a place to kick tires! Any locals have suggestions? I was thinking the side of the burger king/staples parking lot cause it's real visible and easy to find, but it's not terribly central to anything... Maybe the paradise parking lot? But that might fill up FAST I don't know what it looks like... Any car dealers go out of business recently? :)

100+ bikes

There should be plenty of parking close by.

Yeah but people need direction or landmarks as it gets closer. Not everyone knows their way around... I mean I know the roads but I don't know where everything is ya know?
