Hedge wrote:Sweat - as a newbie on the RAT I was in awe at your knowledge and I always referred to you and a couple of others as the “Master Wrenches” here; sought of the RAT Guru's. Now that I have put a face to the name and learned more about you I can sense that you are another really likable guy. In life, there are people that you come across in first meetings that are either very likable or not quite likable. Your pictures make me think - here is a very likable guy. I love the Tommy gun, looks like a 1945 or so I can't really tell. I can tell from the picture of you drinking the beer that your one of those guys that loosen up after a few and fit in comfortably wherever you may be! Finally, you blew me away with the picture of you playing the bass, I had no idea; I knew you loved music, I knew you had good taste in music, but I didn't know you actually played. That picture is fucking great! I hope you are able to make the bash as well, and if there is anything that is stopping you from coming, that I can help change, just ask, you would be surprised how resourceful I can be. The same goes for you Greg, I know Florida is a long ride but we can figure out ways to make this work for you and all of the long distance riders.

I've been known to loosen up after a few (dozen) of the col'brews. Sometimes I loosen up too much! I don't see me making the Bash, but hopefully we can meet up sometime!

I played in bands from '98-'06, some good, some great, some bad, and what's funny is the band that was the most popular (and that's the one I was playing with in that pic) was a total joke. We started it as an 80s cover band to play parties. Everyone in the band was in other bands and it was a side-project. So we played a party, then another, then another...then we started playing shows, then more shows, then we started selling out some big places in Austin like the Backroom (RIP) and the Red Eyed Fly. Basically we got wasted, played 1-2 hours of butchered '80s hits, wore makeup, dressed up, etc and people loved it! Most of the guys have moved away/moved on but we still play every new year's eve. I missed this year, but it was/is a blast.

I've passed out on stage before, one of our guitar players (we had 4 guitar players) used to drink so much he'd throw up while playing and keep playing...he's nuts. Fun times!

I've been soul searching...much as I'd love to run away and be nuts, I don't think I'm going to make it either...my shit's just getting too old, decrepid, and crinkly...while I'm sure I could hunker down and make the "to" distance with a grimace and good drugs...the effects would likely have me limping and snarly when I got there rather than kicking ass, and ambulatory by the time I made it back to the 'Burgh.

comes a time when that stuff has to be set aside...sad but true...I would however encourage anyone who still has the juice to flog it...'cause the day comes when juice runs low.

my last option is to trailer it up and try to squeeze a little more out of the lemon in a compromise position...but I think commando runs are a thing of the past...

I say trailer it. Matt and I trailered up to the Finger Lakes last year because we both have minor back problems, and we'd rather take a little shit from the guys and enjoy the riding while we are there than be miserable on the way home... Now that I have some cronic health issues, I'm just much more aware of my own comfort level.
02 BA, lots of goodies...
I may live in NY, but I grew up in VT! I'm a local for this one...

Sounds reasonable enough.BUT,I guess you`ll just have to burn an effigy of me `round the old camp fire. My wife already has us booked for 3 ,week long, vacations and several "extended weekend" trips [all unpaid time off, thanks] in honor of our 25th anniversary this August. So as much as I`d like to visit Vermont,I`m afraid it won`t be this year. There`s no edit button ,so you`re all stuck with the pic.

Hedge, I hope you can get your wife to come....I'm always looking to lure unsuspecting women over to the dark, wild, and dangerous side of Biker Chickdom ! ;)

Actually, when I initially tell folks that I ride, most are surprised....By day I'm a mild mannered Public Health Specialist and Suburban Dance Mom and don't usually parade around in my riding leathers. I'll mention that I ride, and generally get one of three responses:
1.) "Cool! I've always wanted to ride a motorcyle! " :)
2.) "Cool! I ride too!" (followed by riding talk and a new sense of connection) :)
3.) "You ride a motorcycle? Don't you know that 's DANGEROUS??? I know somebody who..." ( then come the grusome tales of the friend of a friend's brother who crashed and was either maimed for life or died and left their children parentless). :(

You wouldn't have to lure her over to the dark side, she is already Good 2 Go as us guys say:
1. Tattooed
2. Pierced
3. Ankle bracelet
Hummm - mild mannered PHS & Suburban Dance Mom? Please don't kill all us guys and tell us there is a Pole in the center stage of that "dance studio"! :-)

Nope - I just finished an in-depth search using my super secret search engines and there is NO pole in Bennington. However, there is a Bowling Alley! :-)
You would need to detour the ride route to:
Barre
Brandon
Burlington
White River Junction to find the nearest Pole! ;-)
