First "above 40 degree" day

Postby Blue Steel » Sun Jan 27, 2008 4:25 pm

Today the temperature finally rose above 40 degrees. Just had an unusually cold and nasty snap.

I finally got to get my bike out and ride. There were bikes everywhere! Reminded me of spring time. Looks like I wasnt the only one dying to get out and ride.

Since we are gearing up for a huge Super Bowl party next Sunday my wife was busy cleaning the house up yesterday and today. I did what any sensible married guy would do and vanished. Yesterday I did some Honey-do list stuff for her and then spent some quality time with UncleCharlie. Then I got back and took her out to a really nice dinner because the last thing she would want to do is cook - and especially in her very clean kitchen. Today I finished most of the pre-hit list buying for the party while she finished the cleaning. Now I'm surfing the net and watching Tiger! That guy is indestructible!

Granted its not good riding weather, but I MISS the new england winter! It's just temperate enough down here from the ocean so it doesnt snow as much. I miss walking outside, hearing the crunch of the snow, that crisp cold air hitting my lungs, faint wood smoke smell... Mmmmmm good times!

40 degrees???? I was sitting on a perfectly frozen lake beside my truck with my kids ice fishing over thirty feet of water. Asking myself...why am I here? Oh yeah because the kids have been bugging me to take them ice fishing for three weeks. Well 23 degrees, 10mph wind made for a good day.

Glad someone was able to ride today.

The ice was 10 inches thick, according to the Maine.gov people it can with stand medium truck traffic. Some body had a car out by their ice shack.

Happy for those that were able to ride today. I will be April before I get my bikes out. And then I usually ride till December rain or shine.

Great for you Jimmy , We still have ice-melt. I'm guessing about the middle of this week we go back to deep-freeze only to wait for the next blizzard friday. Speed. I am getting to hate this winter- shit. Speed.
