Ride offer

Postby sevy » Thu May 03, 2012 10:31 pm

After missing last year because of a work conflict, my buddy Terry and I will be attending for Friday's barbecue, a Saturday ride, and then the dinner. Unfortunately, we both have to be back in Glens Falls for a wedding on Sunday, so we're riding home after dinner on Saturday night.
Neither of us likes riding in large groups with unfamiliar riders, and we ride the Adirondacks and Washington County NY all of the time, so during our past bashes we have done some exploring and sight-seeing with a handful of other riders who shared our fondness for smaller groups. By no means do we putter along, but we mix some fun riding with some scenery.
This year we will probably follow some of our first year's route to the top of Mt. Greylock, and then backroads winding back to the north and west again to the Greenwood. We'll probably spend most of the day riding, beginning with an early breakfast at the Blue Benn, lunch wherever we find ourselves, and then back to the campground to pack up before the dinner.
If anyone would like to join us, we'd be happy to have you along. Terry will be on his 1974 Honda 450, and this is what I look like with my '99 Legend:

We'll be pulling into Brattleboro directly from work Friday, so you can look for us there. Safe riding everyone!

:) Good choice....I have the mesh tops and bottoms and the stretch kevlars.....I tend to just wear the stretch gear....I rode last Labor Day weekend in the Cinncinati area when temps were 103F both days wearing the stretch Kevlar with LDComfort gear underneath.....worked excellent :plusone:

I just got some LD tights and a top a month ago. On my top half, I have used the evaporative cooling trick when wearing my leather jacket in my pre-motoport days, but my ass always used to get pretty sore regardless of which type of underwear I wore. There were long days in the saddle when I dreaded having to get off the bike, as any movement at all was just excrutiating. My first ride with the LD stuff was about 300 miles in the mid 40's - I love these tights and top - they are a great base layer in the cold for insulation, and I am sure they will be great as a base evaporating layer when it gets hot. I was skeptical and they weren't inexpensive, but they seem to be a very high quality product, so I am glad you are finding them functional.

:) you will be happy with the combo as I've been using them together for a couple of years....I've tried about every kind of gear out there from all sorts of leathers and textiles....finally found what works the best for me....I don't use the waterproof liners under the Motoport...instead I have the lightweight Frogg Toggs over them....seems to work good. :plusone:

I did get the liners, and they have been great. I know some complain about getting everything attached, but I don't find it to be a big deal. I have been thinking about sending a pair of jeans to him and getting a pair of the stretch kevlar jeans, not for riding, but just because I think they would make the most awesome pants just to wear around, and they would be indestructable, so never need replacing. The stretch fabric breathes so well that I think it would be killer in a pair of jeans for wide temperatures.

:P Good idea on the jeans....I don't like the liners as they are under the gear which will get soaked through before hitting the liners...as soon as the rain lifts I stop...take off the Frogg Toggs and ride around with dry pants and jacket....
