So I'm adding one more to the camping list. My wife, Jennifer will be riding down with us and camping . Don't give her too much greif after all she does ride a kawasaki zx6r 636. She has completed the penquin road racing class on it.

I would love to camp but not having done it in many years, I'm concerned about being able to sleep well and being comfortable. It would sure save some $$$. What recommendations you all have with sleeping bags and especially pads. Also any recommendations on tents would be helpful. I would have to strap all this crap on my bike, too.

Hey Matt...

Just so you know there is a lodge with beds and stuff in it.. and you can rent them for real cheap....that way you can still hang out and camp with us.. but you will have a room to sleep in...

Janet and I will be camping this year. Hope everyone wants to camp. I really want to see everyone together in one place.

Sorry Tito not unless you consider the Paradise camping. I don't have the gear nor the inclination. Love my hot showers and warm beds. I'll ride in just about anything but at the end of the day I like my comfort.

Hi Matt,
I have done lots of backpacking and canoe camping as well, and have owned and used many bags over the years. I have several North Face and Kelty bags, and even two evacuee bags from the Korean War, which have the coyote fur collars and lots of down. None can compare to my two Wiggys bags, however. Wiggys bags have a patented insulation that no one else has, and this amazing insulation not only keeps you warm, but lets all of your body moisture pass through the insulation and shell so that you do not get clammy and damp. I first heard about Wiggys from a friend who is a vet that goes to the Iditarod races. I now own a bunch of Wiggys gear, including insulated vests, sweaters, boots and mittens, and I can tell you that they work as claimed. Hands down the best insulating layer I have ever worn. He has a website if you want to check him out. Jerry the owner is a very opinionated guy, and his newsletters are quite entertaining. Be assured, however, that his products work as claimed, and whenever my family goes camping, there is always a fight over who gets the two Wiggys bags, and who gets the North Face and Kelty bags. They really are that good!
As for tents, I have an older Eureka dome tent that has served me very well. Check out the ADVRider forums for lots of advice on newer gear. Obviously, one important consideration is the length of the poles, as you don't want to be clipping any guardrails or traffic signs as you ride:)

I'll probably do the camping thing again this year (2010) if Charlie, Hedge and the others are. However, I will be praying for sun and maybe just a tad warmer than last year.

I'm sure Boss Ed will look forward to our aluminum can contribution to his retirement fund!!

Hey everyone, we've started a new thread for 2010 camping here:

I'm going to lock this one to prevent confusion.
