If Rock & Roll history is of interest, a further understanding of this person is cause to rewrite Rock & Roll history as we know it.

The late, great Sam Mayers. Had drinks with him many times and backed him up twice-a real highlight for me. Sharing the stage with Anson was about as close to musical bliss as a bass player can get! Enjoy this true Texas marvel. BTW, he's the guy who wrote "Sleeping in the Ground" which was covered by Clapton, among others.

For more big fun, do a YouTube search on Freddie King-then CRANK it and hold on.

Speaking of Miss Etta, some required viewing

Had no idea how integral Muddy Waters was to the day to day of Chess Records

I agree with Bucky- required viewing. It was fascinating to get a peek into the context of "living the Blues."

Cadillac Records reminded me of Walk The Line with Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon.

Johnny Cash and June Carter-

The home movie in this one is priceless:

OK, after this I'll stop---what an amazing rendition of If "I were a Carpenter" by Dwight Yoakum and Allison Krauss

:)

As much as Allison Krauss annoys me lately for playing the part of "Yoko" in the ongoing Led Zeppelin saga, that was great! I've awlays found that song to have a haunting quality to it that belies its simplicity.

It also reminded me of some music from the movie "Once" which should be required viewing for any music lover. Not for any historic reason, just GOOD music. Here's a sample.

Also, the Etta James stuff reminded me of the movie "The Commitments". Also AWESOME music lover material!!
02 BA, lots of goodies...
I may live in NY, but I grew up in VT! I'm a local for this one...
