My plan for Election Night

Next Tuesday, of course, is Election Day. In the morning I will go dutifully cast my vote (which I'll have to write in as none of the candidates actually on the ballot deserve my approval), then I'll go to work, then in the evening I will go home, cook myself a nice dinner (heavy in carbs and cholesterol, while they're still legal), watch the election results come in, and drink heavily because no matter who wins, we're royally fucked.

So the only question remaining is, what kind of booze should I get to mark this special occasion, which is likely to be the tipping point of a downward spiral to a socialist nanny state?

My usual special-event poison would be Hendrick's gin, but I'm wondering if this calls for something else.

I prefer the covousier vsop. I am partial to conac for times like this. At $45.00 a bottle(not 750ml) it is the best thing to say good by to my money, way of life. I will not stand down when it comes to my family or guns. We are fucked no matter what happens.

My thoughts are with you , Mark.
I don't even tip the bottle anymore , still , enduring the pressure if one could call it that , if we cast the right vote or not. Honestly , I think Palin shows a fresh face.....Too bad we couldn't have a fresh face in the Whitehouse as President. They crack me up about Qualifications.........in my thinking to keep it simple the only qualifications you need would be honesty and be loyal to your people.
I'm wondering the same Mark. I truly don't want to vote for either. They should put an ol' farmer in office that had to work most of his life and live off the land , that would be ironic wouldn't it. So totally against what it is now......
I pray that we can all hold it together....It's gonna be a ride. Speed.

If the Gin works I'd stick with it but might try having a chilled bottle of Jagermeister and a shot glass close by for those moments when a little liquid valuim is all that stands between a thrown object and a broken tv.

well I am sure you guys have been waiting for me to chime in....or probably not. I figure what good is it going to do to flame anyone or the site...but here goes. You guys all know me. You know I am a staunch Republican and still am. I am proud to be a Republican and I think we lost a great opportunity to capitalize on the last 8 years. Many major issues which would have got us going in the right direction were put forward and were stomped by the Democrats. Bush like him or hate him, put up 5 bills that would have stopped the sub prime mortgage lending snafu, which in turn would not have led to all the bank failures, including Freddi Mac and Fannie Mae. If this got passed and the market doesnt crash then indeed the market was a place to put your money. Having said that, if that doesnt happen, then, inturn which I still say is a great idea is to privatize Social Security, or at least let me invest it myself, hell anything is better than the 2% it earns now and that 2% is why Social Security is failing. Bush put that up too, and it still is at great idea, but nope the Dems did not want the repubs to have an issue so, they shot that down as well. These are only a couple of examples of great ideas, but politics gets in the way. For the last 4 years, not a day went by when the president was not burnt an ephigy. Thats ok, he;s a big boy, he can take it, but do the dems think that if obama gets into office that the Republicans aren't going to do the same. They are, and rightly so. Payback time. Sorry, getting off track...Marc is right on about the country, if Obama wins that we will be moving closer to socialism and a nanny state. The centrists of this country, of which I am not, I am clearly and proudly a right winger, being tired of the constant smearing and tired of the liberal demogauging and politisizing of every little issue are tired of the current majority and will vote for the opposite party. Thats too bad and very scary. We dont need more socialism, we need less. We dont need more govt regulation we need less, or its not that we need more legislation we need the RIGHT kind of legislation. I just cant vote for someone I know very little about, McCain and Palin have been fully vetted thanks to the liberal media and the liberal press doing all the heavy lifting for the DNC. We know nothing about Obama, and that is a very scary proposition. Vote McCain/Palin 08.......simply the lesser of 2 evils.

How about we all write in an outspoken, idealistic, passionate, conservative.

I nominate Hank

Everyone write in Hank Poirier for president. He is the most Ronald Regan sounding guy so far.

Cabo Wabo tequila will certainly dull the pain of this election.

I am a libertarian, but with no party to represent me for several years. It really sux being stuck out here alone in this political wasteland, where the only two choices we have are Bad, and Worse.

I say we all move to the Conch Republic, secede, and drink and dance till it doesn't hurt anymore.

Anybody with me?

Cabo Wabo is a completely natural, no sugar or additives, made like old time tequila, in small batches to insure it is always the best. Sammy Hagar tasted it on tour one time, and was so impressed, he bought the damn company. It is expensive, more so than Patron, and harder to find. Patron silver is the best tequila available in the states, that is affordable and can be found everywhere.
Cabo Wabo is simply the best tasting tequila.

Any of it will have you inside the outhouse, howling at the moon, at 2 pm.
Be careful.

I know exactly what you mean.

When I read the words of Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, etc, I want to weep for what this country has become. The Land of the Free and Home of the Brave is dead. It's become the Land of the Corporations and Home of the Self-serving. It makes me sick.

My fellow brothers, we are at a time in our lives that will be history in the making. We will spread the good word of Obama's terrorist up bringing, his ties to Kenyan terrorist, his non-american birth, his public banter about ripping the tax system off to fund his left wing brothers and sisters. WE WILL DOMINATE THIS ELECTION!!! Long live the strength of republican fortitude!

Or I will be in hell right beside the two of you. Atleast I know there will be beer there with Jimmy.
