I know this is minor but it freaked me the fuck out. I was coming home after my meeting with the lawyer that is doing the living will and life stuff for my mother. I was slightly leaning foward, just enough to get out of the wind blast from the side(high winds today). I saw the bird as it hit my helmet. Just above the visor. The bird snaaped my head backwards, exploded with blood all over my helmet. I was dazed for a minute, it sounds like someone hit my head with a baseball bat! I now have a blood covered helmet with finger marks in it. I was touching my helmet like my head was bleeding. I am only a little sore in the neck area, helmet is ruined. After that impact I will not trust my head to it.
Anyone every use a Vemar helmet? They have a lift up face like Nolan but it designed for sport riding with reduced wind noise. Just looking for some opions on the vemar helmets.
I'm off for a camping trip, Talk to you on Sunday. Peace and safe riding to everyone. Speed, Heal quickly bro!!!!!

Buddy of mine took a bird in the shoulder doing like 100. Basically exploded all over his neck. People looked at him funny when he stopped to clean up...
Glad you're OK! Can't speak to those helmets, hope someone else can.

For just a moment when I saw the title of this thread, I was expecting it to say that you ran into Bonniegirl. I'm glad you didn't, and glad you're okay!

It's times like these that are great for story telling. Been hit by two birds, a bat , three dogs and ran over a chipmunk in April. Wouldn' have mentioned the chipmunk but acturally felt bad about it. Poor little creature didn't know where to run so I kept steady and figured he'd get his timing right but he had very poor timing and ran right under my 240 series. Glad your ok and able to tell us about it. Touko

Went riding tonight after the rain was blasting GPS said 82 when the car aproacking struck what looked like a peice of cement and fuck a piece of it flew into my lane and struck me in the fuckin visor . Thank God for Icon full faced helmets scratched the shit out of my face shield and scared the shit out of me . I thought that was a sign to ride the fuckin speedlimit home. It was like getting hit in the head with a hammer and it was about 2 inch chunck front wheel on the car caught it and shot it at me . New visor is in order but helmet didn't get a scratch. I ducked and turned to the right and it hit me like fuckin 3D I could see it coming. Damn what is with all the flying shit.

And to think I was complaining the other day that a very small rock ( think pebble) got chunked up off the road hit my knee and then my tank.
Jimmy, you got me thinking about a full face again. Was checking out Bruce's helmet at the cookout and the idea of saving ones facial components is really beginning to sink in.
Happy to hear your Ok and only the visor is the worse cause that could have been a trip to the emergency for sure without it.

Sorry to bring your good name down like this Robin, But Now that you mention it, it would make a good title to some type of porn novel.
I just got home from our camping trip to read the posts. I have been pleased when a chipmunk would dance in front of my bike. I ran three over that way. I found the bird that hit my helmet..........It is semi-boneless now.
Yep I'm glad the bucket was on my head. A friend of mine called me just before I left to tell me about a kid that was leading a group of riders. He started doing wheelies on the highway, lost control. He was decapited, lost 1 arm and 1 leg. The worst part is te group ended up riding thru it before most of them could stop. Several had to have their bikes towed home and quit riding at that point. I feel really lucky that it was only a bird!!
I'm glad everyone has had a safe 4th of July weekend.

Ok I have to ask.... how did he get decapitated?!? did he run thru something? Or just the way he landed? YIKES!!! That's nasty.
