I just can't bring myself to post over there.

Anyway, here's my question:

I'm getting ready to powdercoat my rims, hubs, and spokes. I am willing to pull the wheels off the bike (scary but I can do it), but not to wrestle with lacing, etc. I can get the coating down, both wheels for $350 -- unless I dismantle them and then it goes crazy because it's each spoke separately, blah blah blah. I won't spend a thousand bux just to have my spiffy powdercoated pink wheels, lol. So the question is: Can I just get them coated as a unit? Seal the spokes in and all? What's the downside??

Blue J the only down side is if you ever have to have your rim trued or break a spoke which is known to happen. What color are you doing your rims in I hope not hot pink. I would talk to Hedge he has had alot of powder coating done on his ride.

there's a guy in Austin that did the whole wheels. They look great too. The only issue is if you have to tune a spoke it will crack the p/c, but I guess you could always touch it up.

Thanks guys - one thing is that if I make sure the spokes are tuned/wheel true before I start, it *ought* to be that the p/c helps hold them in, no?? And, if I'm gonna put on new tires, should I pull off the existing balance weights, then add p/c., then add rubber, then re-balance??


Almost certainly *not* hot pink, but I will admit there is a certain appeal to the following (photoshopped) wonders:

The pink looks fuckin hot with the bike blacked out that would be better then lojack for someone wanting to steal it LOL. Kidding it looks cool and would be different for sure. I will stick with the Goodwood green for now.

Dude you should totally keep your eyes out for a spare tank and paint it pink. Rattle can if you have to. Take it to all the bike cruize nites. Perfect.

That's a GREAT idea! We swap our seats back and forth depending on the conditions, why not a tank???

It really, really does appeal. And not in a gay way, lol. I'm certainly secure enough to zip around on my blacked out bonnie with a bright pink tank... hell, I have blue hair!!!

The real question, though, is -- safe to just powdercoat the whole rim/spoke/hub ensemble? Do I remove the balance weights first and then rebalance???

Just a shade darker would look smokin. You still have blue hair LOL. Cant wait till the bash just to see that hair.
