i talked lovel out of riding up in the end of april, the weather is too iffy. by june it will be just fine.
it is snowing like hell here right now though, about 2 inches on the ground UGH

Put it this way:

Last year on May 6 I rode up to an abandoned NORAD radar base in northeastern Vermont. I was not able to make it up to the main part of the facility because the road was blocked by foot-deep snow.

None of the deciduous trees at that altitude had started to bud yet. Down in the valleys they'd only just started to bud. The ride out in the morning was chilly (low 50s, probably), although it got into the high 60s or so in the afternoon, if I recall correctly.

I went back on Memorial Day, three weeks later. The snow was gone and trees had leaves. Weather was gorgeous.

At the end of May, daytime highs are generally in the 70s, although overnight lows can still get pretty chilly (frost danger doesn't really end until the second week of May or so). There's usually plenty of sunshine and blue skies, but there's also usually a good amount of rain. The weather tends to change a lot, and even if it's pouring on Friday, it may be beautiful on Saturday.

Don't worry about it. Whatever happens, happens. We'll have fun no matter what. If it rains on Saturday, we can just scale back our rides to include more places to stop and get a cup of coffee or whatever.

I like the construction season joke There's a similar one for Vermont, like Winter, Mud season, 4th of July and foliage. Something along those lines.

I just went through your pictorial on the NORAD Site and the Asbestos Mine....Just wanted to say what a great time you must have had...great pictures to boot! Thats exactly what I'd like to do.

I took the time to check it out as well. Mark your a good narrator, like looking at discovery channel - Massive conduit for Computer at NORAD site as opposed to todays technology. 1963. Towers were cool , Historically Radical...........Asbestos mine : Steam shovel - Far Out. I think I'm pretty sure who built that concentrator (rock crusher) Deister , Located here in our city. 4-5 Generations have been running the place , they specialize in concentrators ( mining) one of the few in the country. Those things are Massive pieces of welding art and are intimidating separated from their components. Great pictures ! Speed.
