Holey shit!!!!
I just finished installing the Mikuni’s HSR 42mm carbs.
What a difference, I though the 904 big bore felt strong
the Mikuni’s really wake the 904 up.
There is a totally different feel to the throttle she gets up
there very easily with just a slight twist of the throttle.
I’m not lying when I say I’m scared, this thing feels very powerful.
I haven’t even taking her out for a ride yet but I am soooo looking
forward to taking her out.
The weather sucks right now it’s fucking snowing AGAIN!!!!
I will give the ride report the first chance I get.
She is definitely one BADASS Bonnie Now.
These babies are big there is not much room left behind the motor.

Wow ! Throttle Body Is huge. Are those Constant Velocity ?What is the defining difference between those and the other mechanically? I like the oil pressure gauge, also the headers look different,I'm saying that because on the Speedmaster they are dual wall , I'm not familiar with the Bonneville. nice. Damn thing looks like a rocket engine, I don't mean Triumph 'Rocket' , I mean a 'Rocket Engine.' Great work, Bill.

These fucking things feel incredible I so can't wait to take her out.
I am sure it is going to take a little to get use to. She really does sound and feel a lot more powerful.

I like the oil pressure gauge,

Speed
They are called flat slides , and they work directly off the throttle cables.
When you twist the throttle the slides and jet needles rise instantly not like
the CV carbs were they have to create a vacuum to lift the jet needle.
And they are a whole lot bigger.
It takes very little throttle to bring her up there in the rpm's.
I can only imagine what she is going to feel like at wide open throttle.
I have a feeling she is going to be like a rocket.
WoooHoooo hold on Baby
Oh , the oil pressure gauge is some thing I made last year. I like it and it works great

Hey Bill,
Looks like you got your headers all squared away! They look a lot different than the last time I saw them. Was it just that final coat that needed to be peeled off?

I can't wait for weather to change and lilsten to your bike! I'll stick behind you so I can get the full sound.

Hi John
The headers still look shitty, it was just the last coat or coats that blistered and pealed.
I will pull them off and have them sand blasted clean then I'm not sure it I'm going to try and
paint them again or have Hedge hook me up with his ceramic coat guy.

If you think I had a big shit eating grin on my face after I started her up for the first time
after the big bore install, you should of been there then I started her up with the Mikunis.
Holey! ! ! SHIT ! ! ! was the only thing I could say.
These things are really incredible, I so can't wait to take her out for a ride.
come on spring time.

I thought that was the difference but I couldn't remember for sure. (Carbs.) I need to try and remember what I study.Hands on would be the best for me though. I'm happy for ya'.You've done a lot of work on it lately. That machine is Bitchen'. Speed. P.S. I can't wait to hear it and see it myself.

Bill...contact greg and see if the carbs have #50 accel pump squiters in the carbs. If they do not I would recommend installing them. You can get them directly from sudco, make certain that they are installed so that the fuel squirts directly on the needle.

Big difference with these installed imo...even on the 904. The problem is the carbs suck so much air so fast the bike leans out, the accel pumps help this but you'll never beable to just wack them wide open like you could the old cvk's w/out leaning the bike out.

Be smooth with the throttle input and your smile will be wide :)

I was going to make a similar comment. I think with the flatsides, or any carb that works right off the cable like that, you need to kind of roll on the throttle or else you'll flood it or somehow stumble. I'm sure you'll get a feel for how much you can give it real fast! I be that thing will fly.

...it doesnt flood out...the problem is that the carb pull's so much air...so fast that the bike leans out if you just "wack it" wide open. This doesnt mean the carbs dont work, you just need to be smooth with throttle application. These carbs perform very well, I'm sure you'll get to see this first hand from Bill at the bash.

...if I make the trip...that'll be 2 bikes to see these carbs perform on.

I have been thinking about installing the accel pumps they are disabled now.
Bill G from BP says i don't need them but, I remember you saying you installed them
with good results. Greg sent me every thing in a bag to enable them .
I have the #50 nozzles , springs and plungers I also have a couple of allen cap screws
that look like #6 x 1" long that I have no idea what they are for.
I will probably want to give them a shot at some point.
Right now I just want to get out there and ride to get used to them first.
Then I will be getting in touch you and Greg to help me out on getting them enabled.

Enable the pumps bill....my bike is..."happier" with them...and I'm certain yours will be as well.

Without the pumps enabled the a/f ratio is all over the place...lean makes power...but your already making plenty. The pumps will help to aleviate the lean condition..you should notice a difference in the way the bike responds with them enabled.

The set screws are actually "stops" for the plastic "cam" on the carbs that dictate when the accel pumps stops squirting fuel. The carbs have 2 settings regarding when they start squirting...and when they stop.

The farther the screws are turned in...or down...the sooner the pump stops squirting.

They thread in the top of the carbs through the top cover straight down.

If you'd like some pics let me know.

Please respond here...or thru email...I'll not be posting on rat.net
