Any news on if we are having a 2021 Bash or not?

Postby tigerwilbury » Thu Feb 18, 2021 12:13 pm

I hope everyone is doing well. I know I'm ready to get back to normal! Is there and update? I know things are still changing on a day to day, week to week basis but I'm thinking rooms will need to be booked if we have a chance of 2021. Stay safe and be well my friends! Scot

Great minds think alike. I just posted same thing. I was thinking even a scaled down meet up would be ok to try and keep it alive.

Alan and I were just discussing a couple of weeks ago.

We ARE planning to have the BTB this year -- it's just a question of when. The trouble right now is that it's impossible to predict whether our planned June 4-6 dates are realistic. Vaccine rollout is going more slowly than we had hoped; Vermont is still only on 70+ (and that only started this week). And strict travel restrictions are still in place in Vermont. I'm sure by the beginning of June, things will be in much better shape, but the question is, how much better?

Alan and I are going to see how things are looking in mid-March; by then hopefully we'll have a more realistic idea of vaccination timelines. If things are going well and the June dates are looking like a pretty safe bet, we'll move forward with those. But if things are still highly uncertain, we'll postpone till fall. We were looking at the weekend of October 1-3 -- by then the situation should certainly be much improved, plus that's right about when fall foliage is at its peak, so it would be a great time for the Bash.

For now, that's all I've got; stay tuned!

Fall would be nice as well. I might end up in VT riding the traditional weekend anyway. It is an annual tradition. I found out my direct ancestors fought at the Battle of Bennington and are interned nearby.

See, Rob? And you guys all laugh at me when I visit the battle sight to marvel at what those guys did-not to mention that one can actually WALK in the same paths our defenders did. Unreal! I was TRYING to connect you with family-guess I was too subtle. :)

Changing for the better I hope, Jim!

Hope to see you at this year's Bash, whenever it ends up happening.

I finally almost made it. As of 03/31/21 I will officially be retired from the United States government after 32 years 6 months and 12 days of service. All that to say, I should be able to make the bash this year no matter when it is scheduled.
I am an individual. Just like everyone else.

Looking forward to seeing everyone when we can make it happen. Jim, I hope your changes are positive ones....like maybe getting back on a Tiger. You've been missed the last few years. Brian, Great minds is a bit of a stretch for us. LOL, I feel better just seeing everyone check in. Scot

Okay everyone, Alan and I discussed and agreed it would be best to postpone. So the new dates for the Bennington Triumph Bash will be October 1-3, 2021.

I'll be updating the website and the Facebook page soon, but meanwhile, go ahead and let your friends know!

You're such a funny guy Bill! Unfortunately I'll probably be in NC that week. Might be able to make it back for Saturday. We'll see.
