Lol, same here, I think I beat you by about 20 miles, must of been the weather, beside being way too busy.
I'm not going to be able to move by the time I get up to Bennington.

You guys are Hard core, serious riders, I usually have at least 1000 + miles on by now.
I've just been too busy,
Working full time, I live on an 9 acre farm, Being a Scout leader, we go camping one weekend a month.
I play in to bands, that play about 1 to 2 gigs a month.
But, I am having a Blast !
I am Sooo... looking forward to putting a few more miles on Bonny next week.

See ya all next weekend :naughty:

That's a lot of bicycling, Marty!

I'm at over 21,000 miles so far this season between the Scrambler and the KTM. The Scrambler is such a great bike.

I'm seriously considering getting one next Spring. Just have two concerns regarding touring on it: Heat from the high pipes, (which must build up over the hours), and chain maintenance, (I got spoiled with a belt drive, after figuring out its adjustment quirks). What have been your experiences?

Chain maintenance has never been an issue for me -- just lube it regularly with a good chain lube. I use the Dupont Teflon Chain Saver stuff, which is so good I typically get around 30,000 miles out of the original chain.

As for heat from the high pipes, it's nowhere near as bad as you might think. It gets a little toasty sitting in traffic on a hot day, but as long as you're moving it's not noticeable at all. The heat shield Triumph installs on there works really well.

I took my Scrambler on my annual pre-BTB trip this year and was really surprised at how well it handled touring. It's a very comfortable bike and handles superbly, and it's easy to ride long distances (helps to have a small windscreen of course). I packed light for that trip -- just the left-side Triumph pannier, a DrySpec D38 tail bag, and a small tank bag; pic below. I really enjoyed cutting things down to a minimalist setup.

September of next year I'm riding cross-country, and planning to do it on the Scrambler with a similarly minimal setup. I'll probably use my Wolfman Rocky Mountain panniers instead of the Triumph one so I also have a pannier on the right side; I will need a little more packing space in order to bring cooking gear and a few more clothes for a month-long trip.

Thanks Mark. Another question regards tire life. How has wear been? I'm guessing that with my sedate riding style and svelt shape, I should do fairly well.

The stock Metzeler Tourance tires are crap. My front wore out in a little over 5000 miles, the rear in about 6000. Beyond mediocre life, they're also just not very good tires. Fine on the street but unimpressive on dirt.

I'm now running a set of Shinko 705s, which are much better (and a lot less expensive). They last around 8000 miles even carrying my weight, and they perform surprisingly well on both pavement and dirt/gravel roads.

After seeing the pic I had to wipe drool off keyboard. I am not interested in the new Tiger 900. I will keep my Tiger 800 and maybe, just maybe buy back my 2014 Scram from current owner. That or DR 650 for bombing some forest roads and trails.
