Guzzi to Bennington 2015!!

Postby GerryP » Thu Mar 05, 2015 10:30 am

Well, for this Bash i will be up on my new 2015 Moto Guzzi Stone in gloss red, aka the "Jim Hamlin Special".

I hated leavng Triumph but my aging retired body could no longer take extened rides in 'Jockey on a race horse" riding position so
after some lenghtly conversations with Jim Hamlin and Jim Moribito I decide to trade in the 09 Sprint ST for a Guzzi.

She should be into Jims shop at the end of this week and will undergo enhancements. Her jugs are big enough( :teehee: ) so attention will be paid to suspension, exhaust mods and other bling things.

I'll post up pics as soon as I have some.

Looking forward to seeing all of you at Bennington.

Hey Gerry, Glad to hear about your new Moto Guzzi. Despite living only like 15 miles from Hamlin Cycles, I still have not gone to Bethel to check them out probably because I'm having a hard time thinking about motorcycles with all the snow on the ground. Anyway, I really like the V7 Racer which is basically the same as the bike you just got.

Question, are you riding up to Bennington as part of a group ? I used to ride up with the Rockers, but they didn't go last year and neither did I due to a bad toothache - wisdom tooth had to be pulled. Anyway, I'd like to go this year and just looking for some other CT folks to ride up with. Not sure if I'll camp and get rained on or stay in a hotel and be dry, but hoping to get together with some folks for the ride up.

Best,

Pat

Pat,

Thinking about motorcycles is the only thing keeping me sane.

I retired on 02/02/15 and all I've done is snow removel week after week.
right now it's still snowing in Guilford and as soon as it stops I'll be out there again with the shovel and snow blower. Just like yesterday!!

As for the BTB over the years I've done both, gone up with a group or by myself.

I usually like to go up at least a day or two before the Bash starts and that may not work for others.

For me it made economic sense to upgrade the Stone to be "my" bike, plus I wanted a red one.

Come on Gerry, you know I'm only kidding. :naughty:
You are still going to wear your Triumph jacket, right.
I'm looking forward to seeing it.
They are very nice bikes, not Triumph :mope: but, still very nice.

Happy retirement , I hope you enjoy many miles on your new Guzzi

That's why I referred to it as the "Hamlin Special" !

I came close to a Street Triple but I really hated the demented insect reject from a transformer movie design so
prevalent in motorcycle design.

Others under consideration were the BMW F800's, Duc Scrambler, and Tiger 800 XRX.

Well I decided to book a room at the paradise for Friday and Saturday nights. I might consider staying over on Thursday too if others are. Either way I am looking forward to the Bennington Guzzi bash!!! Now I just have to get my bike started and running one of these days!

Nice. Those are beautiful bikes.

A friend of mine has a Moto Guzzi Stelvio NTX, and he loves it. He bought it from a big Guzzi dealership out in Washington -- he did a fly and ride, rode it around out there for a couple of days to break it in, got the break-in service done, then rode it cross-country back to Vermont. Really nice bike, and one of the best values in the ADV market considering everything it comes standard with.
