Another Year, Another Dirty Rdie

Postby Dave B » Thu May 08, 2014 6:44 am

Last year Tom and I did most of the dirty Ride and will be doing some variation of it again this year. If I remember correctly, there were a few folks expressing interest in the route and asking how hard/technical it was. From what we did, we had one section, south of Bennington, that was a true Hero section that I'm planning on avoiding. The rest of the ride was easily doable on 20 dirt/80 slab tires. There were some roads with loose rocks so a skid plate could be a good thing. The stock Tiger plastic sump guard would be good enough.

If anyone expresses interest I'll post a GPX file before the ride, if not, and you want to tag along, we'll be at the group site Friday afternoon and at the Saturday meetup.
Cheers, Dave

Stay tuned -- but there's a chance Eric from MotoVermont might be coming down to the BTB and leading a dirty ride. We talked about it a little the day before yesterday, but I need to follow up with him.

I'm considering it. I have to see about getting a room. I had a good time last year even though the dinner Sat night was pretty awful! Depends on the weather too!

That explains why I couldn't remember what happened. Well, it's one reason anyway.

Okay, spoke with Eric last night, and unfortunately he will not be able to make it down. So the Dirty Ride will once again be self-guided. Unless one of you guys wants to step up.

I have a feeling I'll be hitting some variation of the dirt ride along with my friend Paul on his DR. Please post any GPX mods you are thinking of.

Where you guys staying? We'll be at the group camp. Worst case we can meet at the morning meet and great. Look for the dirty tiger

I'll see if I can get something together by then.

Working on a route that goes around Risky Ranch Rd that was pretty hammered last year. Monroe Bridge was also closed but can be gone around if you don't have paniers. I fit with my rack but Tom couldn't with his hard cases on. I'll give Zoar Outdoors a call and ask if it's open. The bridge on Strattford-Arlington Rd was out, wonder if anyone has an update on that one. Not a lot of roads to route a go around.

I'll be more than happy to lead a dirty ride...

I'll be pitched on Mark's site at the end of the lake with the black tiger, assuming the dealer can coax the ECU to stop being insane tomorrow morning. It seems to have lost its shit since I did my own 20k service on Saturday.

Be interested in knowing what you did and why it's acting up. May be it's going through the terrible twos
