Gear Up!

I bought a dry bag for the Bash. It's kind of cool because the first piece of motorcycle luggage I ever bought was for the first Triumph Bennington Bash - back in 2007 and I haven't bought another bag until now. I didn't buy any stuff from Aerostich, but I used their URLs to show examples of what I got because I knew all the stuff was on their site.

The new bag is a Wolfman expedition dry duffel http://www.aerostich.com/bags/seat-bags-and-tail-bags/dry-bags/expedition-dry-duffel.html

It looks weird, but I'm hoping it will allow me to have dry clothes at the end of the day. I got the all black one, the smallest.

Also, I bought an RK Excel chain break and press tool http://www.aerostich.com/tools/maintenance-repairs/chain/rk-excel-chain-break-and-press-kit.html to go along with the chain & sprocket kit I ordered. But I'll probably tackle that job when I get back from the bash.

For the last couple of months, I bought a bunch of parts to get ready for this Bash - new tires, new tubes, a wheel balance & truing stand, fork oil, engine oil, filters, plugs, and more I can't remember right now. The bag is the only piece of gear I bought. I hope it lasts as long as the first bag.

Anyone else buy new gear for the Bash?

:) Dang...this guy is serious....I did go down cellar a week ago and check the air pressure in my XC...so I should be ready....

Bought a 66 liter double dry bag system last year and it works great...best thing to keep all your gear protected and lightweight too....

Mrs. Lucky and I just got done going over the cookie needs for the Bash so things are heating up a bit here in WNY.....

Kevin, haven't you done a bunch of extended trips on the Scrambler? How did you carry all your shit if you didn't have luggage except the one bag you bought in 2007?

I've got the Wolfman Expedition Dry panniers for my Tiger, though I bought those for my Labrador/Newfoundland trip last year.

I also bought the Twisted Throttle DrySpec tail luggage system.

Here's what the combination looks like on the Tiger. The red thing underneath the DrySpec luggage is a Rotopax fuel can.

Yeah, I've taken a road trip or two since that first Bennington Bash. The Tank bag and a laptop bag that I strapped to the seat were my only luggage. I didn't buy the laptop bag. It was sitting in a pile of stuff that no one wanted at my old office.

I strapped the tent, sleeping bag, and Thermarest to the tail rack. I would usually stick my rain gear between the overstuffed laptop bag and the stuff tied to the tail rack. It worked well, but my clothes would get damp.

This year I won't need the camp stuff and I figured I might try traveling light. I'm going to try just the dry bag. We'll see.

Wow. And I thought I was doing pretty well cutting down on the amount of stuff I bring along touring.

I also have the Twisted Throtttle Dryspec bag(the large base bag). It packs well, and kept everything dry in torrential downpours on my TN trip last July.

I'm heading to the Twisted Throttle Open House this coming Saturday. All I really need is some good rain gloves. Hoping for a raffle win to get them! :)

I use the Wolfman in yellow. Works great and is very obvious.

+1 on the Wolfman Expedition bag. I use the small one, and still lots of room, and nothing gets wet. Having said that, the TT Dryspec bag looks like a great solution.

I finally get to use the Rev Pack seat bag I got a while back. Test loaded it the other day. I think I will be able to bring whatever the heck I want.

For this year's bash, I bought a Tiger 800 XC black.

That is because my Bonneville rebuild is still in pieces, in my basement.
