Bennington Triumph Bash

On Tuesday I submitted an offer for the house I've been interested in, and it was accepted yesterday! So in October I'll be moving 20 miles north to Georgia, VT, into a brick farmhouse built in 1800.





Living room



Original entryway; that door is no longer in use. Not sure yet what I'll use this room for.



Current entryway; would also make a good dining room.



Kitchen



Upstairs, seen from top of steps. Note convection heating vent in floor.



Bedrooms





The house sits on 1.4 acres and includes an awesome barn/garage.



Lower level seen from one end; note that the other end is already insulated and has a gas heater installed. Just needs a divider wall put up to be turned into an awesome heated workshop. (No, the Jeep doesn't come with the house.)

This is the only place in my several-months-long house search that really excited me, so I'm really, really glad they accepted my offer (for those who are curious... list price was $199k when I started looking; seller dropped it to $189k a few weeks ago; I'm paying $175k)! And as it happens, it's minutes away from a bunch of my Vermont motorcycle acquaintances. We'll have a nice little motorcycle community up there.

That is so awesome and Im so jealous.... If i can ask how much you paid for it.. cause i will eventually be looking for property similar to this in VT!

Seth -- price paid is in the last paragraph. And you should come looking up in the Georgia/Milton area -- some great houses available, good prices, and an excellent motorcycle community around here. And we'd be neighbors!

Congrats Mark! Lot of things going on for you these days. I think bunk beds would go nice in the barn(Heh Heh!) Love those floors.

You found and got a place that looks like it has great bones (200+ years and it looks like nobody screwed it up), and is in good condition to boot! Awesome house, and there's really nothing to say about that barn/shop. Gotta love an outbuilding!

Post up if you need help moving in. We could see just how many bikes would fit into that garage!

So Mark, you moved in yet? How's the femur?

Closing is tomorrow; moving day is next weekend!

Femur is healing well. PT is helping me regain strength in my legs. I can walk fine now with just one crutch, but can't walk without the one crutch yet without limping badly. My physical therapist wants me to transition to a cane soon, then once the strength in my leg is built back up a bit, I can get rid of the aids altogether and walk normally.

Update, now that this forum is back up:

I've been in the house now since the end of October and loving having MY OWN PLACE! The barn has five motorcycles in it (my three, plus two I'm storing for friends over the winter), plus a lawn tractor with snowblower attachment, plus my car gets parked in there, and there's still tons of room left over.

Only trouble is that I've hardly seen the inside of the house during daylight hours. It's dark out when I get up in the morning, and it's dark out by the time I get home from work. And on weekends I tend to be fairly busy with stuff too. Can't wait till spring!
