"New" Triumph

Hey all- been a while since I was on here (possibly since last year's event?) so I thought I'd take a look at whats been going on.

And...share my new project- I'm rebuilding (not restoring but rebuilding) a 1972 T150V Triumph Trident! I've been posting over on:

http://www.triumphrat.net/members-resto ... oject.html

I'm hoping to have it done by this year's bash, and if I do I'll be taking it instead of my 1995 Speed Triple. I figured enough people liked my older triple the last few years that I might as well get an older one instead of newer!

The bike was on the road, until the previous owner put two holes in two separate pistons which locked up the engine. I've taken every nut and bolt apart on it, and am just waitin on the crankshaft to come back from the machine shop so I can start reassembling the engine. I got a head start on the fresh powdercoated frame already...

Awesome! Those air-cooled triples are absolutely amazing sounding. Can't wait to see this bike!

maybe someday I'll find time to restore a vintage bike...maybe it will help me keep my sanity...maybe

Just make sure you reinstall the oil pump correctly. Thankfully 1972 Honda CB 500 pistons are not that expensive.

I checked out your rebuild on TRN, teal. Quite an undertaking! I laughed at one post - I think about the silencers - when you said to hell with the budget stuff - spend the dough and do it right.
Good job!

HA- yes. To hell with the budget. That though came a while ago after I was able to find some of the nicer parts.

I'm kind of at a standstill with the project seeing that I'm nearly broke from it and I've been workign down here in PA for the last few weeks.

Once I get some time and my crankshaft comes back from CA, I'll start on that engine. That where the fun will begin...

Well guys, unfortunately I don't think the "new" triple will be ready for the trip. I haven't even started on the engine or wiring yet... oh well!

Anybody else planning on going to the British Motorcycle meet in Auburn, MA the Sunday after the bash?
