OK. I hear the Trailwings on my DR650 suck. I am looking for tires that will be OK on the hardpack-fireroads,etc. Something to do the trans Mass and Puppy dog route type of roads. I am leaning towards the IRC GP-1. They're cheap and I've read good things on ADV.com about them. Any suggestions?

I'm a big fan of Conti TKC-80s. They're a little more aggressive than the GP-1s, and more expensive, but they work great on both dirt/gravel roads and pavement.
That said, come springtime I'm putting a set of Dunlop D606s on my XR650L. I've gotten to the point that I'd rather have a more dirt-oriented knobby on that bike.

I think the D606's are overkill for my use but I will look at the Conti's. Thanks Mark.

they still make the GP-1??
I used them on my 87 Honda XL250 and found them to be satisfactory on "easy" trails
Cheers!

The Conti's are a LOT more expensive then the GP1's. I can get the pair for about $120.00. I'll give 'em a try. Tomorrow the Tiger goes in for the Racetech rear shock I had built. Triumph is going to pay for a leak down test as more and more Tiger 1050's are getting cracked rings. It might be due to the gas additives they use near the coast(that's what I heard). And so on and so forth...
