How many does the Paradise have? They also have a fairly large parking lot.

The parking lot at Hemming's was big enough to have a meet and greet BBQ too and the Paradise is right across the street which will likely be booked solid with us for next year.
Now I'm a team player so whether it's cooking, grilling, doing food or beverage runs it's all good to me. I do think the need to keep it simple is paramount to it's success. So can anyone call Curtis and talk it over with him? He might even come up with some other good plan to go with. Just some thoughts.

I hate to be negative but Curtis BBQ sucks hind teat. The baked beans were the worst I ever had and the chicken was dry as dust. The ribs were okay but the sauce left a little to be desired.

I would prefer Pizza to that.

Wise up Yankees - take this last post from a True Southern Boy who knows what BBQ is really about! I didn't want to piss on anyone else's party but I heard quite a few bad things about Curtis's food as well and some just said his food was just OK! If you want good ribs leave it to those who really KNOW their shit!

Sign me up for the chosen dates next year!

I have to agree about the bbq. It was bad for the buildup we heard about how good it was supposed to be.

But even bad bbq is better than some other choices that could be made.
I will go along with whatever is decided, and just be happy to be doing the bash again.

not to be a wet blanket boys, but in finding someone's lot, we need to find someone that will not be squeemish about a law suit involving bikers and beer on their property. that i think will be the real challenge.

My buddy might actually allow us to open fire on his property with live ammo but I think it is not really walking distance like Kirkside, Paradise or Hemmings.

I wonder, if the fort was vacant next year if it would be possible to rent it for a night? I know that is a long shot and could not be decided on until shortly before the event if GK would agree to it.

I'm a hell of a cook, but not for that many. I love bbq but have not perfected it. When I bbq it is the low and slow method. that way the brisket falls apart. I am trying to cook ribs this summer that way. I wouldn't mind helping someone if we did the cooking ourselves. maybe get some volenteers(sp?) to help in shifts?

Brett - I am a Pro at the Slow Cook Method. That picture above is a batch of my world famous slow cooked ribs. There are a handful of BTB members that can vouch for the delicious taste!
I'm a Pro Griller as well, I can grill for many, and you can take that to the bank! :D

the fort baing vacant next year is a long shot...and gk wouldn't be happy if it was. if this is the route that the group would like to go, then i'll put my feelers out for a place that we could have a little outside bbq party close to town. maybe ray would let us do it on the grounds of the paradise? there are others possible options too, i can ask around. i know lots of peeps in town here.

Hedge, they do look awesome. My claim to fame is my chipotle meatloaf and my angle food cake, chocolate mousse. I make everything from scratch. The wife loves it, but hates cleaning up the mess.

Ok, so Curtis don't know Jack about Ribs? We don't need his stinking ribs anyway. Actually, I wouldn't know as I didn't get there in time to make that run but I'll take the majorities word for it. Hedge, your ribs have been vouched for so the question is whether it can be pulled off for a likely gathering of 120 to 160 people.
I think both the Paradise or Hemmings parking lot would be great places but we would either need cookers or at least something to reheat precooked stuff. The Paradise does have a nice area in the back that could accomodate a rather large gathering. At this point perhaps just knowing what would be on the menu would help to show what would be needed to make it happen. Damn, I'm hungry so off to lunch I go.
