I tried to get another bike for the bash, but the 99 DR350SE I bought isn't quite ready yet until I make sure the engine's running right (what? I'd still be on a Suzuki at a Triumph rally...)

Instead, I got a new chair (an Alite Mayfly, I don't trust myself not to tip); a smaller mattress pad; new lighter tarp. Last year, the VStrom looked like I was moving my whole house so I've been working to make the pack smaller and warmer. I'm also leary of freezing, especially since it snowed today in the mountains. Bleah.

The bike itself got shiny new brake pads and lines, that's about it. It's been running great and all my spare bike attention has been spent on the DR, getting it apart and together a couple of times. On the bright side, if anyone needs to borrow a case splitter or clutch vice grips, I now have them to lend. Stinkin' one-purpose tools.

P.S. For a moment, I thought this thread was about someone bringing a Ural to the Bash.

Wal-Mart has some good dry bags for about $6 that fit inside Triumph soft throw-over panniers (to give you an idea of size). I use them instead of the rain covers, since water typically just pools in the bottom of the rain covers anyway and seeps into the bags.

A Ural to the B Tiger B? Now that's an idea....I took my KLR dirt bike to a Gold Wing rally in Cincinnati last Labor Day...that's a close second :P

500 mile service done, center stand on, bash plate on, top box & rack on. Ready to go! I've been convinced to bring XC instead of Scram. Time to pack after work and after grilling! Probably time for a cold one too!

It took about as much convincing as getting you to accept another cold one. :lmao:

I was waiting to read you got a Bonneville Billy to travel with....

Seriously, how heavy and packable is the Kermit chair?

The thing with both the Alite chairs and the Kermit isn't how heavy they are or how packable, but how easy they are to get into and out of. I'm as sure that there's a simple technique to learn as I am that I have not yet learned it. On the Mayfly, definitely DON'T lean too far to L or R unless you yell TIMBER! first. DAMHIKIJK.
