I'll resume check-ins as soon as I have rides to report. Thanks for asking about me!

Guy, good to know you're safe and having a good wander back toward the left coast. Very nice to meet you in Bennington, despite how little I actually got to chat with you. Enjoy my friend. Your approach is an inspiration. Have I great time, and I look forward to more pics when you can. Peace...

Guy,
My sincere apologies for running out on you. There is no excuse for not contacting you except for my neurosis. I did try to call, but the number I have for your cell phone is apparently incorrect. I had recently gotten a call from my daughter and heard very sad news from her and something just came over me as I thought about how long it was going to take me to get to see her. I just freaked out Sunday morning and bolted.

That said, I think I would have driven you nuts and visa versa with our styles. After all, you aren't called Mistermellow for nothing. I, on the other hand, don't stop to smell the roses.

None of this is going to explain my behavior. I'm afraid I'm just nuts and should be alone. But the compulsion to be with my daughter controlled every thought. Guy, I'm sorry. But from the sounds of it, your stop in Virginia was nice. I would have been going nuts staying so long. And that wouldn't have been fair to Mare as well.

Have a safe ride back.

If it's any consolation, Mother Nature kicked my butt the whole way as punishment for not explaining my reasons for leaving to you in person.

Well Explained Mr. Smith - you are forgiven and can come back to the right coast when you feel it is time! :D

Me and Guy made it back to my house in Carthage, TN. late last night.
He is asleep now, and I had server problems that I just got resolved. I am sure he will want to check in with everyone when he finally rolls his ass out of bed.

We had to push hard yesterday to get here, because my bike developed an electrical problem that would kill all electrical power without warning. Traced it to a bad wire in the wiring harness from the ignition switch. A little Fred Sanford engineering with a couple of wire ties made the problem go away til it can be repaired. It will be fixed under warranty, at my convenience, because we got her home ok.

See if you can get Guy to tell you how long his ass is.

Glad you guys made it home safe.

First thing out of the box the morning I left I came upon a damn dear standing in the median on 211. I hit the brakes but wasn't really worried. As soon as I got close enough he jumped out in front of me and tried to kill me. Lucky for me I had already slowed down.

Whisper, I'll PM you about this at some point.

It was a good ride with Randy. His ingenious road-side fix kept the Rocket rocket-ready. In spite of that we put in a 416-mile day through some very beautiful country. Ride reports to resume soon. Really. No, really. :)

Good morning Guy. Glad to see you up and about. If you want to drop by Birmingham I will give you a place to stay and a granola bar or popcorn. It's all I have in the house since I got back. I may get groceries tonight.

Let's see, Randy's got Mexican apple wine, and you've got popcorn. Anyone offering dessert? Actually, I'm westward ho. (Or is it, "westward, ho?") :) I can't wait to see you folks again, though. It won't be soon enough.
