Robin!

That is great news! They must have racked up a few miles. See you all on Friday morning!

Robin,
Great to hear they arrived safe and sound. Can you do me a favor and find out what time they headed out from Gettysburg. I'm wondering if that's a good destination for a first day out from Bennington or if they think we can make it to Mare's place.

No big deal if they are asleep. I'll talk to them soon!

John -- FYI, I rode from Burlington down to my parents' place just outside of DC two weeks ago today, and it was a relatively easy day's ride (took about 11 hours, which included several rest breaks, and I took a route that included several fairly slow secondary roads).

Burlington is about 3 hours north of Bennington, and DC is about 1.5-2 hours south of Gettysburg. I would think that you could make it from Bennington to Gettysburg in 6 or 7 hours, tops. Pushing on to Mare's place shouldn't be difficult -- I don't think that should take more than an additional 3 hours or so, maybe 4.

Thanks Mark. I'm not sure Mistermellow is up for that so soon after his long ride!

LoVel posting as bonniegirl

We are here. It was a great ride.

Depending on the route you take you may or may not be able to make it in a day. We avoided the super slab except for about 2 hours on our last day. Gettysburg is about 410 miles from bennington if you take route 9 to route 7 to binghamton and then 11 to 15 to gettysburg. You go through so many small towns it really reduces the distance you can cover.

Total trip for both of us was close to 1500 miles.

My bike is at Ronnie's getting a new rear tire. The cords were showing for about the last 60 miles of the trip.

Thanks Paul,

I guess we'll play it by ear for the first few hours then decide to slide over to the slab or just continue via small towns for a day. Thanks.

Nice to have connections for your new tire!
