Jimmy, a sign for your driveway.
CRIMINALS BEWARE!!
LEAD POISONING HAZARD
AT OVER 1000 FEET
PER SECOND!!

Anyone who can't understand it is probably an illegal and should be shot anyway.

Hey, you may not have heard of my brother (he lives in VA.) but thought you might know of a guy named Todd Jerrett. My brother shot and trained with him for a number of years and they went to a lot of matches in that area. It's a small world so thought I'd ask. Cheers, Touko

Tod Jarrett 1996 IPSC World Champ hell ya I have meet him . He is slow by todays standards but he is a good guy to watch and learn your brother is lucky. I do alot of long range tactical shooting 600 meters+. I train with a tricked out .223 it helps with wind drift and humidity varibles . Squirels and ground hogs dont stand a chance around here. I like the sign I think I will have one of those made up .

I kinda figured you've traveled the same circles as Tod from time to time. 600+ meters is serious distance I can imagine the satisfaction of a direct hit at that range. Had to shoot a ground hog last year that was in my garden. Damn if the little bastard didn't just jump up and run into the woods. Think the small 22 round did do the trick though as there was a blood trail and it didn't return. Should have heard the wife bitch me out for taking the screen out of the bathroom window; but hey, it was the only way I could get a clear shot.

Yeah I can hear your wife threw the vocals of mine for pulling the same trick LOL. I dont get to travel to much anymore Daughter is working during the summer and I am so busy with work you just dont have the time. I could never compete against those guys they are fast and on target it helps when you shoot every day and someone else pays the bill. I think this year I am going to shoot 500 meter service rifle. I love shooting iron sights and it is alot cheaper to do.

Your right about needing a sponsor. My brother Ron had a couple of them plus the time neccessary to really get into it. Without it one can still do well and have plenty of fun but competing for titles would just not be realistic. I remember when Ron was really into it and I was down there visiting he'd be playing with one of his competition guns the whole time. Jesus, he'd make like he was shooting everyone that came on tv and every car that went down the road. I prayed that I wouldn't have to take a piss during the night for fear he'd use something with bullets in it.

I love to shoot, it is as much fun as riding just riding is alot cheaper even when you add in the cost of the bike. I spent more for the .50 bmg then I did for my Bonne and at $6.00 eveytime you pull the trigger it is cheaper to buy gas. Hey Brett if you like LMGs or even SMG then lets plan a ride to Knob Creek Thunder Weekend and you can rent one and blast away all blues. It is cool to watch the tracer fire out of 100 machine guns at night kinda like July 4th. The Gun show was a blast prices are starting to go up if you have any desire to own something you might want to bite the bullet and go get it now. Ammo is up 20% and firearm prices are starting to get crazy.

Jimmy, the cost of a smg like the mp5 or thompson smg are crazy, the hassle of a class III is stupid. Just to get a concealed carry permit I have to take a gun safety corse, 45 page application to the state, background check second only to joining the secret service. I have been wanting to go to hobb creek, but work prevents many trips like that. Plus the wife is not to keen on events like that. Fortuntly there is a group here in maine that allows citizens to rent smgs, mini's, ma duece's. Last year the mini was banned by the state, so i doubt I'll see one in use here anymore.

I went shooting yesterday with a bunch of friends. Was shocked when I went to buy ammo on Saturday and saw the prices -- they've doubled in the past six months. $18 for 50 rounds of .45ACP -- and that was the cheap stuff! I wanted to get a box of .45 Colt so I could shoot my Ruger single-action revolver, which I haven't taken out in ages, and a box of ammo for that was $28. Ridiculous. So while watching TV on Saturday night, I got out my reloading press, which I hadn't used in years, and loaded up 50 rounds for free (I've had the supplies lying around for ages, was just too lazy to reload).

Yep thats how I afford to do it reload everything we have a firearm in. I loaded 1200 rounds of .45 acp last night took 2 hours but the dillion screwed up auto primer feed kept jaming. In the lovely state of Delaware we are not even allowed to have the Tax stamp let alone the SMG. It is sickening to watch the prices climb but whats new. I took the safety class and went through all the bullshit and got my permit several years ago it wasn't to bad. It was when I was shooting heavy and I showed up to qualify with the range box and enough ammo to feed a third world country and had a blast.

Wow. Wish I had one of those Dillons. It took me almost an hour to load 50 rounds of .45 Colt on my little Lee turret press.

I have one of those for loading .30 carbine all the others are dillion 1050s it is years of collecting and trading and saving to get things set up . I started reloading 7mm mauser with the old lee hand loader so I feel for ya . You could just swing down I think there is like 2500 rounds of .45lc sitting in the basement for cowboy action shooting.

Christ. Think you've got enough ammo stored up, Jimmy? :)

I've got three turrets for my Lee press. One's set up with dies for .45 Colt, one for .45 ACP, and the third for .45-70. So at least I can switch between calibers easily. But it still takes about a minute per round, manually placing the brass and primer in their holders, three pulls of the lever, manually placing the bullet, etc.

Of course, the nice thing (besides the cost savings) of loading my own .45 Colt is that I can make the loads much hotter than the ammo you can buy in stores. I've got a Ruger Vaquero single-action revolver, which can stand up to loads that are as potent as a .44 Magnum. The hotter loads are a little more fun to shoot.

I may have to get back to reloading .45 ACP too, since it's running $18 a box now. 9mm, 5.56x45, and 7.62x39 are still cheap enough for now not to be worth my effort, thanks to the amount of surplus east-bloc ammunition on the market.
