It seems some dumbass forgot to hook up the vacuum line for the MAP sensor.

Nobody I know.

Fuck all them sensors, I'll keep my carb's
Trouble shooting EFI is a pain in the ass.
You have to hope one sensor is sensing the other sensor to make sure that that sensor is sensing the right sensor that is causing the fucking problem. :lmao:

2014 Dirt Update

Postby Dave B » Tue May 27, 2014 6:47 pm

So the posted BTB Dirty Ride file is around 170 miles. I got it down to 160 but just found out Monroe Bridge is still closed. I have to assume the bridge on Arlington-Stratton Rd is still closed. Our mistake last year was not going down and looking at it, but taking a locals word it's not crossable.

I have a couple of files to share, email me if you'd like them. One has an easy hero section and is 157 miles assuming the bridge is open and one without the hero at 145.
Also a north and south go around if the bridge is closed

Meet Saturday morning per usual and I'll lead what ever the group wants. Would be good to be gassed up and ready to go. Carry some snacks or full lunch. Would rather stop along the river or a vista for lunch. We don't usually plan a full blown restaurant stop.

Dude, our bonnevilles aren't twins any more.

I was hoping to ride it down, but it's not quite there yet.

 Is Billy allowed to come on here and swear? I think Mark wants me to help him detail his XC..it's looking a tad disheveled....

Thanks guys for playing along and making it a fantastic ride! Glad we were able to test your skills a little in the morning, I'll be changing the GPS file to avoid that section all together. Arlngton-Stratton was "open" but only because they weren't working on it. No water crossing needed. Was so nice we did an out and back and then south on FSR 71. We finished the day on the jeep road out to Little Pond and back, a nice Hero II. I'll also make some changes to get to the river quicker because the route after we split up was even nicer.

I'll post up the video later this week and thanks again for a great paced dirty ride.
See ya next year

Thanks Dave for your work on the ride. Learned a lot and I think I'll be doing more of this off road action at home. A different set of tires are in my future. It was also instructive to see how fast you could go on your knobby's on the highway. Do they cause vibration or other side effects? See you next year.

No significant effect for me, other than wanting to go hell bent in the dirt :naughty:

I used to ride '83 Suzuki GS750 so this bike is a dream machine. As expected, there is some vibration, the front howls a bit between 68-75, but for me, it's minor compared to the performance gain.

I have one more trail specific weekend, than I'll be on the Mitas E-07 rear and keeping with the Scorpion Rally front. (Which I run year round)
I would have run the MItas on this ride, even if we were to have run through the Hero section, but the Rally was already on and I want to toast it before changing them

Awesome meeting and riding with you guys...thanks for taking along a beginner, learned some stuff...had a blast and was so amped from the ride I just partied my ass off (like it was 1999) back at the Paradisio and the din-din....Bombered home in the morning to Maine via the top of Mt. Washington (perfecto weather window)...did 1441 miles door to door...Aloha and perhaps we'll meet up at Sunday River at the end of the month?

Let me also toss in my appreciation to Dave for his leading us around and the effort that must have gone on behind the scenes. Had a great time riding with y'all. Having the guy move his excavator out of the way so we could ride back up the "closed" road was very cool, and humping up (and back down) the final jeep trail was a hoot. Felt pretty good about getting the big bike through it al in (nearly) one piece.

Thanks again,
Dave

Yeah, big thanks Dave and also the sweep fellow whose name I can't remember.

Would have loved to do the second half, but had to be honest to myself at feeling pretty burnt from 600km of riding on Friday, a marginal hangover, and ergos on the XC that I have yet to figure out, so lots of pain interfering with my concentration.

Nice to see how you can ride the shit out of that thing with a bit of help from decent tires and lots of skill. Time to go study my neduro DVD again.

+1 would dirty ride again

I'm already into some upgrades for my Tiger 800 for better dirt capability....the beauty of riding with other more experienced people.

Dave, thanks for organizing, leading and being gentle with a newbie dirt guy... and thumbs up for the tip on the shorty levers...particularly with armored gloves, they just make sense to me...I have some on order already.

John, great riding with you on both days, and just shootin' the shit with you, best of luck. I found the pivot pegs at Touratech for the Tiger and am investing in a pair.

Also thanks to all....it was damn fine day. Maybe we can get some Scramblers to go too in the future?

Are any of you guys thinking about heading to the Euro Rally in Sunday River next month? If so I'd bring my Tiger and ride dirt again there, otherwise I'd probably bring my Bonnie.

Hey Cap, I totally get what you mean about bonding with strangers. We are certainly characters on the stage of life.
Dave was great with his useful dirt riding input. I've made reservations at the Grand Jordan, see you then.

Hey David, What were those handguards you have? They looked better than Barkbuster Storms. Where did you get them?
And those levers? Thanks, John
