Hedge is back from Amsterdam!

Postby Hedge » Sun Mar 16, 2008 9:41 pm

Wazzup motorheads? Mrs Hedge and I just got back this evening from 10 days in Amsterdam. We had a great time but we're glad to be back in the good ole USA! To answer some certain questions right out of the gate:
The weather there is colder than here and it rained almost everyday except yesterday which was warm and beautiful.

There seems to be more Coffee Shops now then I can ever remember and i have been going to Amsterdam since around 1985. For those of you who have never been there and don't know - Pot, Hash, Magic Mushrooms are legal to use there and are sold in all these coffee shops. You cannot walk 50 feet in the central part of Amsterdam without smelling it. No I did not sample anything! I don't participate in this activity anymore because I abused that privilege when I was younger and cannot safely use ever again!

Yes the Prostitution is still huge and the Red Light District had plenty of traffic! No I did not participate in this - I told you, Mrs Hedge was on this trip! I did have an outstanding Chinese meal in Chinatown which is right in the middle of the District and i did get a great foot massage afterwards but that's where it ended this time! I swear on the 1st testament!

I did take Mrs Hedge to the Van Gogh Museum, the flower market, a wonderful tranquil canal cruise, shopping on the walking street, and out to dinner every night! She enjoyed this all but is glad to be back in the nest. Amsterdam is a melting pot of people and ethnic food. It is quite walkable as well and i would recommend it to anyone who likes to travel as an excellent destination.

I'll upload my pics from my camera tomorrow at work and thumb through them and post a few if there is any interest. It's good to be back and I look forward to Spring, Riding and the BTB! :-)

Thx Jimmy - I'm starting to get motorcycle antsy here! But I got to put the ants on hold. I get my brake foot done in exactly 10 days. The shifting side is about 90% right now so I'm not the least bit worried about time frame. I'm gonna be Good2Go way before the end of May!

Thx Bill - I'm looking forward to Spring and firing up the ride and getting back out there. As we get closer to the BTB maybe some Saturday in early May we can plan a meeting somewhere in-between.

Hedge,
I've been to Amsterdam eight times. One of my favorite cities anywhere! Seems like you hit all the best places. I've got to get back there soon. Crazy place. I love it! Glad you had a great time.

I have to agree! Unfortunately I usually hit it during the rainy cold season instead of the middle of the summer when it is awesome!

Gee, Hedge... I'd have thunk that having the missus along would make all the better reason for some fun in the Red Light! Can you count to three??

It's funny that since I don't use anymore I go right through customs without a single glance form the man! Back in the day, they tore my bags open, found my goodies and explained that the country where I was now in had different laws then the country I just came from! :-)

I used that one once when they found a really nice hash pipe tucked deeply inside my toilet kit. The Customs Agent asked me WTF and i said those exact words and then I said "I swear I didn't have anything else on me or in my luggage" She took a long 5 second stare directly into my eyes, put the pipe back into my toilet kit and sent me through . . . .with 14 grams of pure brown heroin sewn inside the liner of my jacket! :-)
My future would not turn out so lucky! More will be revealed when we meet at the BTB! :-)
