The Dirty Ride

Postby BDKrivit » Wed Apr 08, 2015 4:21 am

Folks, I switched Tigers from Roadie to XC w/ TKC80s and I am eager for trails this Bash. Any other routes or trails nearby? Also, is the Dirty Ride led/formal group or as printed a solo ride still?
Thanks, Kriv

Officially the Dirty Ride is a self-guided one, but last year we had someone actually volunteer to lead a group. No volunteers yet this year though.

Actually, I may need to revise the route for that ride. I tried to do part of it last fall and couldn't because it was impassable due to a bridge that had been washed out by Hurricane Irene and hadn't been replaced yet. I'm not sure what the group that did the ride last year did; if anyone who was on it happens to be reading this, speak up. If you happen to have a GPS track of the actual route you did, so much the better.

thanks Mark, I just noticed this now. I successfully got it into basecamp and then into my device. Looking forward to the Dirty Ride!

Sorry to say I'll be missing the ride this year. Heading up to Canada to do the Roaming Rally

Follow this link, for my drop box file of last years Dirty Ride. There is a Hero and Non-Hero file, along with a go around if the Stratton - Arlington bridge is still closed. There's also a road that goes south, FS Rd 71, from the Strattford Rd that is dirt and will connect back to HWY 9
Good luck, be safe and have FUN!!!

The Stratton-Arlington bridge reopened last summer, so these routes should be viable. I'm not sure about the County Rd hero section, though. How hero-y is that? Am I likely to get in trouble if I go try it on my own?

Looks legit to me. Probably hasn't gotten any better since then!

Actually, I think I have ridden that road on a 250 last year. I just never saved the tracks from that ride.

Re: The Dirty Ride 2014 .GPX Files

A little late, but...

This is a drop box link to the files I used in 2014
https://www.dropbox.com/s/dxe4m8g3zp7pw ... s.GPX?dl=0

Feel free to add them to your ride description page. They are saved as routes and can be converted to tracks in Base Camp.
Hope someone did the dirty ride this year

Yep, my friend David (on his '98 Tiger with 21/18 dirt wheels) led two Scramblers on the Dirty Ride this year. And they did the hero sections. One of the Scrams bottomed out on a rock that punched a hole in its oil filter. The guys came to dinner with a pretty good story.

Love that hero section. Glad to hear others have done the dirty ride, bummer about the breakdown
Sorry I missed out, maybe next year it won't fall on the same weekend as the Roaming Rally.
