I heard you used Spencers for a seat mod. How do you like it? I need to do something with my Tigers seat. I emailed Specer a couple of times and got no respose. How was the turn around?

I called Spencers twice and sent two emails as well, but I think he is either out of the business or otherwise out of the picture for a while. I just sent my Triumph Legend seat out to Bill Mayer, and should have it back soon. I'll let you know what I think. By the way, I just did the whole custom seat research thing, and there seem to be 5 primary options:
Russell, which everyone seems to really like, but their design hangs off the sides quite a bit. Rick Mayer and Bill Mayer both do seats, but the feedback seems to run more positive toward Bill, although some do swear by Rick's work. Sargent and Corbin are the next tier down in price and satisfaction, but their ratings suggest terrible customer service (Corbin), and not so great comfort (Sargent). The Bill Mayer seats run about 5 Franklins, but when I called Bill, they told me a 3 day turnaround right now, so mine is being done this week. There is also a site called fix your own motorcycle seat, or something similar, and for those on a budget and with some time and talent, might be worth a shot. Good luck - the only negative thing I can say about my Legend is the stock seat just plain sucks! I recently sat on a new Bonnie, and that one felt like a 2 x 6; that would be the first thing to go if I ever bought one of those!

Let me know how it goes with Bill Mayer. I heard that Rick Mayer takes months to get the seat back to you. I guess Spencers is history-you would think he would post something on his website. I will probably just get an Alaska sheepskin for now and wait over the winter to oreder a seat.

I think with the economy in its present state, the line at any custom shop will be a lot shorter, so the wait may be reasonable any time of year. I just read a blog last night about two guys on Tigers going round the world, and I noticed they loved their airhawk cushions. Do the research and you will find lots of positive and negative about nearly every product out there, so I guess our asses must all be pretty unique, even though they all are designed for the same purpose (well, mostly the same purpose, although I guess prison time can expand that a bit). I will post a review as soon as I have some saddle time on it.

Glad to assist. What you guys and gals are doing with this event is just what I'm looking for. A riding event-go figure! Now, about Spencer. He did two seats for me and they are the bomb. Have not talked with him in over a year 'cause I did'nt need to-bummer if he's AWOL. My turn around was two days!

Just saw a post on Spencer dated 4-19-2010. The guy just got his seat and was real happy. Said he had to use a different e-mail to send as his was blocked as spam. This may help.

That's what happened to me. Hopefully if my dealer still has an extra seat, I'll be sending mine to Spencer today.
